I hope for the latter.

Many people do, however its extremely unlikely?

Is Taksin on the jet?

Good question?

I find it very difficult to believe he will return to Thailand with the strong possibility he will be pronounced guilty, therefore jail.

Yes of course. So it's reasonable to assume that IF he does return that he's got some kind of iron clad guarantee that won't happen.

I think that is the ONLY basis on which he would return.

Makes sense but I suppose that even with that he'd be facing a more than zero percentage risk that the winds will change and bite him.

FlightRadar24. A Bombardier Global 7500 left Seletar about 30mins ago and is currently in the Gulf of Thailand. Not speculating who is on it but it is heading in the direction of Bangkok

Thaksin Shinawatra's private jet has reportedly taken off from Dubai, sparking speculation of his imminent return to Thailand. The former Prime Minister, who initially boarded his Bombardier Global 7500 at Don Mueang Airport on 7th September 2025 for a medical visit to Singapore, has since redirected his flight to Dubai.

Thaksin confirmed his plans on X (formerly Twitter) and intends to return by 8th September to attend the 14th Supreme Court hearing scheduled for 9th September.

Sources have now confirmed that at 11:45 p.m. local time (8:45 p.m. in Dubai), Thaksin's jet departed from Dubai. The dramatic turn of events suggests he is on his way back to Thailand, drawing the nation's attention ahead of the crucial court ruling, reported Khaosod Online.

Thaksin, long a contentious figure in Thai politics due to various legal issues, remains a powerful presence despite his years in self-exile. His sudden flight path adjustments have left the nation abuzz, questioning the implications for the Thai political scene and economy.

As the court date looms, this high-stakes episode could significantly impact both Thaksin's future and the broader political landscape in Thailand. The situation remains charged with anticipation, with much depending on the verdict due on 9th September.

Yeah thats why he went to Singapore instead. I think that sudden medical condition requiring immediate hospitalization in Singapore will appear, preventing his return to Thailand

The most tracked plane in the world right now.

He's on his victory lap now. I bet he's already celebrating his get-out-of-jail-free card: Totally innocent. Otherwise he'd be halfway to Timbuktu by now.

Thaksin Shinawatra, the ex-Thai Prime Minister, has returned to Bangkok today after a stopover in Singapore. He flew out of Dubai and landed at Don Mueang Airport in the afternoon. Thaksin is set to hear the court's decision regarding his 14-day medical leave case on 9th September.

Could be, when he did return last time he was taken to klong prem but within a few minutes transported to the Police hospital.

Brings a question: was the move to the Police hospital the result of a (quick) medical examination or was it all totally planned in advance. seems that it was very well planned and locked in before he arrived.

Maybe today will be  a 100% repeat?

So if he hasn't got an iron clad guarantee of 'no jail' why would he return to Thailand?

That obviously is NOT the case.

Bugger if I know!

Forever the corrupt politician!

I'm going to stick my neck out and predict Thaksin is bracing himself for a suspended sentence,

That way he can claim to be man enough to come back and face the music, but not actually suffer the indignity of imprisonment.

Being found not guilty will not help him regain popularity imo. He's so rich the inevitable conclusion will be drawn.

I still have a sneaking suspicion he might  have agreed) to go down for a month or so to gain sympathy, perhaps whilst wearing a neck brace as he descends the steps to enhance the drama.

Yeah well it does seem extremely unlikely he will be thrown into the hellscape of a joint like the Bangkok Hilton with the great unwashed. I don't think Thai society of for that matter most societies in the world really wants to see that with convicted ex-leaders. It would a political powder keg just the thought of it.

Patriots like Thaksin DO NOT go to jail.
There’s a long line of traitors who should be in jail before Thaksin

I'm thinking the doctors will take the fall and he will claim innocence as he was just following medical advice.
