A British national was seriously injured late on 10 September after a street fight with a close friend escalated outside a restaurant on Jomtien Beach Road, Pattaya. The incident, which occurred near the Dongtan Police substation, prompted a response from Pattaya City Police and rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan. The victim was rushed to Bangkok-Jomtien Hospital with severe injuries.

Police identified the injured man as Mr Nathan Linwood 32, from the United Kingdom. He suffered a deep laceration to his head and a torn left ear and multiple bruises across his body. First aid was administered at the scene before his transfer to hospital. The other individual involved, also reported to be a foreign national and close friend of Mr Nathan, left the scene before police arrived.

Eyewitness Ms Joy, 50, told officers that the pair had been drinking heavily at a nearby beer bar before the fight. She said the disagreement began when Mr Nathan, unable to withdraw money from an ATM, decided to end the night and return to his accommodation. His friend objected, leading to a heated argument which escalated into a fistfight in the street.

The altercation was captured on CCTV, which police have since retrieved as evidence. Officers confirmed that Mr Nathan’s testimony will be taken once his condition stabilises in hospital. Authorities are also working to track down the suspect, who now faces charges of assault.

Seems like he couldn't pay his share of the beers/drinks lead to the fifth.Anyway violence is not the answer.

Happened to me in Bangkok.I meet a guy from my country in the embassy. We agree to go and have some beers and drinks together. We agree to share the bill.He said he need to use the toilet and didn't return. The bill was about 3000 baht.Irritating, but i sat a couple of hours more and paid the bill that ended about 4500 baht.I never agree to share bills again with anybody. That said it happens sometimes that i don't have enough cash to pay but i know the manager so he just say i can pay the next day.And i allways do that.

I ALWAYS say "separate bins" when the wait staff asks. No confusion that way.

So, it happens sometimes that you don´t have enough cash to pay. You know it´s 2025, right? ATM´s, QR codes, Mobile Banking, Credit & Debit cards???

I would never ask the bar or restaurant to pay the day after. In reality they are laughing at people who does such things and see them as all from amateurs to poor suckers. I would never put myself in a risk of being looked upon like that.

Just asking, as we AN members are so evasive of get-togethers!

If that 32 year old is taken to  the Emergency room and properly assessed, I expect he may be given some concerning news.

Look closely at his legs. The upper and lower legs are not balanced. The leg beneath the knee is swollen. If it was obesity, the thigh and torso would reflect that. He is either holding fluid suggestive of kidney issues, or has a circulatory deficiency. That's a large calf for a man of his size.

He attempted to use an ATM but for some reason it didn't work

Some of us don't take the ATM with us outside. Some leave the phone at the hotel when going out.

Im impressed over ur mindreading skills and can say they thinking some customers is poor suckers and amateurs.

See how "close" they are if he presses charges...

Probably been having a session on the B39 beers at the two locations on that strip of bars

Now you are there again, and have no clue, or don´t understand what you are reading. Where did I post that can see or have read minds to define that some customers are poor suckers and amateurs? What I posted are that they in many cases will be laughed at and seen as that by the staff and owners in a place. Neither does that mean that they are, as I was just stating what many owners will think about them and see them as.

Then if you don´t take ATM nor phone with you when you go out, then you just have to be sensible and bring more than enough cash to cover all eventualities. That is if you wish to be seen as a respectable person that has brains enough to be able to pay for yourself when out.

It´s still not mindreading capabilities, but only knowledge from a very long time in Thailand.

Please, read what I quoted. I replied to another poster and what he did. Not what happened in the news. Please, please read before replying. Next time, feel free to send a PM, and I will explain before you do same mistake again.

Also happened to me in Siem Reap. involving a fellow countryman. When it came to paying the bill, he returned from a local ATM saying it would not take his card. I paid the bill and later found out that he had no funds in his card account. Like norsurin - never again!
