Pit Bull Tragedy: Baby Mauled to Death in Uthai Thani

Good point. But you cannot tell what is a dangerous dog by looking at a picture.  I was told when young and experience has shown it to be true - beware pink lips, pink ears and pink eyes.

Pit Bulls and all Pit Bull crosses and all larger bull/terrier dogs should be banned here in Thailand - they need to be trained and disciplined - and most Thais do not train their dogs enough (or children).

Butt it won't happen.

Look at the number of school children who are allowed to ride motorbikes with two other friends or more on the same bike.

The ridiculous low level of driving tests a ten year old kid could pass.

Lack of policing car traffic allowing people to drive in any fashion they wish.

Zerba crossings being used as parking spaces, the failure to stop at zebra crossings.

All the above and more resulting in twenty five thousand deaths a year.

So there is absolutely no chance any control will be introduced regarding such dogs.

It is a pity all the cases of dog attacks do not involve the dogs attacking and killing their owners, it should be seen as manslaughter by the owners if their dogs kill others.

  • If the account of the incident in the post above is true, then I would agree that this dog should be euthanized. But only this dog. Not all Pit Bulls.

Come on, govt officials. How many deaths by pitbull mauling do we need to have before we start getting rid of these animals? A baby, no less. Sick and disturbing that no action is taken

  • Again, we have the selected breeds, that wants to kill, have an instinct to kill, and are totally uncontrollable. Still people in charge does not get, that they need to be all from banned with high fi

All large aggressive dogs, I do not care what title they have.

Define large.

Define aggressive.

A few years ago I saw a young kid, being carried by her dad, who had been bitten on the face in the wife's village. Just back from hospital with many stitches the dad told us. I said to shoot the dog.

The dog was already dead.

Not all dogs are relocated. Village justice was swift in this case.

How were they supposed to know a pit bull lived there ??? yet alone come out and kill their baby, they didn't leave it out on the road they kept it close to them !

They left the baby in the yard while they went walk-about... not near them

Most dogs are jerks.

Rarely met a dog I liked.

That's why cats are way better.

Cats don't maul people to death.

RIP young one

You are so ignorant,
I bet you're a hardcore racist as well because 0.0001% of black people commits hard crimes

Yeah, good strategy. You think like the authorities. Just wait until the same happens again and repeat the words. Incredibly stupid!

They are controllable but not everybody cares or has the skills.

Pretty stupid to leave a baby alone in a yard.

Yes, it is stupid to leave. However, don´t tell me that you can control an animal with the instinct to kill. That´s just ridiculous!

Just like humans, right?

Agree.

Looks like an XL bully, possibly even with a bit of mastiff in there.

Still, mentioning a "Pitbull" in a headline always gets the attention.

No matter what the breed, it's a very bad idea to leave a newborn baby on the ground where unknown dogs are roaming around the area. Especially if it's on the dogs territory and the dog is not familiar with the baby.

Very sad.

Yeah right, blame the grieving parents eh?

You’re on a roll of victim blaming.

All variants of this bad breed of monster must be euthanised.

Simply stating that it is a bad idea to leave 2 month old babies on the floor where large dogs are roaming around.

I would have thought that was obvious to even a misguided Liberal like yourself. Obviously not.

If you wish to encourage such behaviour to others though, feel free.

What breed would that be? You couldn't identify a "PitBull" if it ripped up your Che Guevara T-Shirt and peed on your red beret while screaming "Eat the Rich".

A pit bull isn't an animal with instinct to kill, not the same as a lion, tiger, crocodile, .....

I have experience with quite a few dogs (some of them who have a bad name to them). A dog is a group animal and in the group, there is a boss. If you don't train them properly the dog will be the boss and then things can go wrong. With bigger dogs' things can go very wrong. If you train them the right way, there won't be a problem.

I shed a tear on this story. Poor little thing. RIP dear.

Why do the people that own these breeds just let them wander around as they please. Time and time again here the same breed with owners that just let the dog do as it pleases.

Utterly tragic but why would you leave a baby that young sitting alone anywhere .

Come on.  Dumb question.  We live in the Land of Stupid on the Planet of Stupid.

Pit bulls and small lakes seem to kill lots of kids here. Dont parents read the news?

Indeed!

Three kids, aged 8/9 died in a small muddy pond in our village about 24 months ago.

Once again, these type of animals are not destroyed.

Most of them (dogs) are relocated to other homes.

They will. Never learn, ban them Immediately and shoot the ones that, maim and kill

No dog of any breed should be allowed near children of any age.

No such thing as a bad dog breed.

Just bad owners.

The parenting wasnt the best example either in this case.

No, I've been on the receiving end of a bite from one of these.

Yes - policing of the laws does not happen here much.

There has been owners killed and mauled by their own dogs here - they dont understand or train them. One Thai bloke had a pit bull and slept with it like a teddy bear - it attacked and killed him. Only an idiot would sleep with a large dog - they are animals and if suddenly frightened they can and will attack.

Indeed - if someone is killed by their dog due to their negligence, then an owner in the civilised world can be charged - not here unfortunately.

That´s just a big bunch of BS. But, ok. How do solve it, and prevent more deaths from these breeds? You already know, that all people can´t do. I say it´s impossible to have 100% control. What is your solution?

Yeah, isn´t it nice to be on top of the food chain, or do you want to change that?

Yes, I think that should be changed. I believe that to ensure the survival of the Earth and all other plants and animals, humans may need to go extinct, or at least our population needs to be reduced to approximately 10% of its current size. I've written a book about this.

People and dogs should be educated. Some people shouldn't have kids, some people shouldn't have dogs.

Would focus more on all the unnecessary deaths on motorcycles to start with. No helmets, driving against traffic, 7 underaged kids on a motorcycle, .....

Absolutely not.

No end of kids, babies in particular, "nipped" to death by small dogs.

Why would any (responsible) parent take the risk?

Yes Quake, and any dog that even resembles those breeds in the previous dozens of deaths in this website should be put down!      How many more times will we all read:-  "how many more deaths will it take?".      Get real Thailand... get rid of them like most countries insist on.

Just let an official's family member be the next victim and maybe something will happen.

Dont guess another death might happen.... just watch this space.

Totally irrelevant to the topic. Was that your only chance to get away?

Good for you, but you want to be left in the 10% right? or maybe you lived your life already, waiting for last push, and somehow have a hateful feeling to the ones that will be here longer.

You come with some prove that it is an animal with instinct to kill first.
