Naked Foreign Man Goes Wild in Phuket and Strangles Cop

Sadly I think the Thais are beginning to realise that the west is not as rich and priveleged as they thought - so many people, particualry men are struggling to exist in the west and see Thailand as a kind of last resort - pack my passport, few grand and a suitcase and hope for the best - it rarely works out, terrible romance, too much booze - there is a billion dollar industry awaiting them in Thailand fully focused on extracting cash from vulnerable westerners. When the reality hits home and they've spent there last monry, had their last romance many just go off the rails. Pattaya is ground zero for this, you can see the candidates sat nursing a beer at midday living the dream. Not sure what you can do about this, normally middel aged/elderly men arrive fully solvent but more and more i see younger guys coming here in the same boat, hoping for some options but isnt reality - once they relaise its all about their cash not about them you get bizarre behaviour, violence, crime.....not sure what Visas can do about this becaise they dont arrive like this, Thailand just chews them up and spits them out.

Does VISA-FREE mean the same as CLOTHING-FREE?

As is usual in Thailand everything is forgotten in a few weeks so I never heard the full outcome in regards to this matter. I'm sure he would've had a decent "hangover" of sorts next day after hanging one on one of the BIB's own.

I don't know, but the article mentioned "visa-free entry policy" many times so it must be relevant!

No hidden gun, only a little willy.

The man is too young to be a retiree. Look at the black markings on his body. either his friends went to market with a marking pen, or he was on a stag. That's a man who drank him self silly.

Shrinkage does occur in males who drink. Also he is morbidly obese and the   fat envelops the genitalia.

Not exactly. The demographic of westerners who visit Thailand has been shifting to the lower socio economic tier of  western visitors. Who else will put up with polluted ocean water and air, the traffic woes and the poor value and quality of the hospitality sector in Patong or Pattaya other than people who cannot afford the better quality destinations? Thailand is no longer a must see destination, nor a good value proposition for visitors who want quality.

Mid Europeans were not good enough anymore.
Now look what you get from your new favourite nations.

What has a naked man to do with  tourist behavior and visa-free entries?? It is just 1 man who is not behaving himself and how many good tourists are there??? Must all tourist be the victim of the few who ruin things?? Easy according to me is blacklist these people, and those who don't behave... On the other hand all tourist destinations will have tourists who causes problems.. That is normal, all over the world. So if you are tourist destination you should know what to expect and nobody can controls everything, even THailand....

You are on point with your post.  Its hard for many to comprehend that singular events reported by media aren't happening to everyone and are relatively small in actual numbers compared to the number if tourist. Proportionally the number of similar incidents by thais far exceed the number of tourist related incidence.

Seriously. Do you think adding a small entrance fee into Thailand will prvent this type of behaviour? This social media BS  about visa-free entry policies is from people who don't want tourists in Thailand. What's that saying, "Thailand is for Thais"

Didn't realise a naked white man could cause so much excitement on here.

A chaotic incident unfolded in Phuket yesterday, as a foreign man was filmed walking naked through the Patong area, assaulting a police officer who tried to intervene. The scene, captured in a viral video on the Phuket Times Facebook page, showed the man striding unclothed amidst a lively street filled with tourists and locals, casting doubt on tourist behaviour and visa-free entry policies.

The bizarre events took place on a bustling road lined with shops and restaurants. According to reports, the foreigner confronted various tourists and motorists, shouting obscenities and refusing to calm down when other foreigners tried to help. Despite efforts by four traffic cops to detain him, the man continued his unruly behaviour, leading to a dramatic struggle where he allegedly strangled a police officer.

Witness accounts, captured vividly on video, reveal the chaos of the scene. A Thai motorist described intervening after witnessing the man attacking a policeman, while a woman’s incredulous laughter at his lack of clothing was heard in the background. The incident drew mixed reactions online, with some mirthfully dismissing it and others criticising the visa-free entry policy, suggesting it might be linked to declining tourist quality.

The man was eventually apprehended, as seen in images of him handcuffed by the police. The discussion continues on social media regarding the implications for Phuket’s image and the impact of visa-free policies, with opinions from both sides about tourist behaviour. The outcome or motives behind the man’s actions remain unreported, but such conduct could lead to a fine of up to 5,000 baht under Section 388 of the Criminal Law related to public indecency.

Such a tediously narrow view of Thailand.

You ever heard of Bangkok? What about any of the hundreds of other places that aren’t Patong or Walking St?

And the "I paid [or pay] for my visa! I don't want anyone else getting one for free"Dog in the manger types

He violated two of the basic rules of decency.

1. Never parade around butt naked in public.

2. Never attempt to strangle a cop, it's not smart, it's not polite and it can get you in a lot of trouble.

Likewise,  whenever I see any report about a foreigner, my immediate concern is his visa status, in fact just the sight of a foreigner has me wondering .  Why can't I just mind my own business?

Thailand is the hub of being a high-maintenance, whining control freak. Wait 20 years and it will be worse than Singapore here. Once the technology is in place, the country develops beyond a certain point and corruption is less of an issue than it is now, then it will become an Orwellian police state. It's only a matter of time...
