British Actor Flies In to Boost Morale at Eastern Thai Border

A British actor has traveled to Thailand's eastern border to donate solar panels and supplies to the Border Patrol Police. Mark Shelley, accompanied by his Thai wife, Naphatwarun Sirirattanasap, brought nine solar panel sets, dried food, snacks, and bottled water to officers in Trat province. This gesture aims to boost the morale of police stationed near the Cambodian border, where tensions have been rising.

The donation occurred at Border Patrol Police Company 116, where Police Colonel Siamrath Rattanachanajan expressed gratitude for the support. Shelley, waving the Thai flag, stated, “Thailand, fight, fight!” and shared his honor in contributing meaningfully, contrasting with typical tourist activities like visiting Pattaya. The solar panels will provide much-needed power for communication and electronic equipment for the officers on alert.

The increased readiness among police units comes as tensions have prompted a heightened state of alert along the border. Since the initial disturbance, officers have maintained full deployment to monitor the situation, support military units, and engage with local communities. Colonel Siamrath emphasized the importance of staying informed through official channels while assuring the public that security forces are actively working to maintain peace.

Looking ahead, the Border Patrol Police and military partners continue to focus on safeguarding national sovereignty and protecting residents in the border area. The donated resources will aid officers in sustaining their operations and enhancing communication capabilities, critical for their ongoing vigilance.

Key Takeaways

  • A British actor and his wife donated solar panels to Thai border police.
  • The donation supports officers near the Cambodian border amid rising tensions.
  • Authorities urge the public to stay informed and assured of national security.

Why must I have seen that film?

And no I haven't seen that film.

There are most probably hundreds of films that I have never seen, along with thousands of books I have never read, and millions of people I have never met.

Seen many movies, but not that one, although the album  Eat "A" Peach is one of my favorites. 6.0 on IMDB, so it sounds like it was a decent movie.

I was bit concerned about the wife waving the flag shouting fight ! Fight ! Fight

There is no place for violence

She should be encouraging peace. And forgiveness not this violence!

Actually that is a completely wrong assumption.

I was born and brought up at Poole in Dorset from 1944 until 1960 when I left home at 15 to serve 25 years in the RAF, followed by 7 months working in a satellite ground track station, 4 years with the Home Office, and 10 years with Motorola building mobile phone base stations in the UK and offshore.

So some unknown foreigner staying in Thailand who was in a. movie 50 years ago is actually going to boost morale to soldiers? Haha... Who writes this stuff.

I wonder is this is a promotional news story to make the cambodian mess seem more tragic to Thai soldiers stationed there. I also wonder if this foreigner actually bought these things on his own and was not coerced to make such a trip.

One thing i am sure of, is that an unknown foreigner actor who was in a movie 50 years ago did not boost any morale of soldiers watching the borders.
