A prison officer in Nakhon Ratchasima shot dead his former partner and her new boyfriend before turning the gun on himself in a shocking murder-suicide at a government housing compound on the evening of October 4. The incident took place around 19.50 at the residence of officials from Nakhon Ratchasima Central Prison, in Nai Mueang subdistrict, Mueang district.

Police from Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima Station and rescue workers from the Sawang Metta Foundation arrived at the scene to find three people critically injured by gunfire. One of the victims, identified as Mr Natthaphong, was pronounced dead at the scene with a 9mm pistol found nearby. Two others, Mr Wichit and Ms Trakun, were rushed to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital after receiving CPR but were later pronounced dead.

Investigators learned that Ms Trakun, who also worked as a prison officer, had recently returned from a hospital shift where she had been supervising an inmate receiving medical treatment. She later reported at the main prison checkpoint before going home to have dinner with her young daughter and Mr Wichit, another officer recently transferred from Khon Kaen Central Prison. The two had reportedly been dating for about a month.

While the group was eating outside the residence, Ms Trakun’s ex-husband, Mr Natthaphong, arrived unexpectedly. The two had divorced just weeks earlier after years of marriage and shared a ten-year-old daughter. Consumed by jealousy, he confronted the pair, drew a .38 calibre handgun and opened fire repeatedly, hitting both Ms Trakun and Mr Wichit. He then walked a short distance from the house and fatally shot himself.

Witnesses said the couple’s daughter screamed and begged her father to stop during the attack but was unable to intervene. After the shooting, she reportedly phoned police and rescue workers herself to report the incident.

Police at Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima Station sealed off the area for forensic examination and collected ballistic evidence from the scene. Authorities confirmed that counselling services are being arranged for the couple’s daughter, who was traumatised by witnessing the attack.

Key Takeaways

• A Nakhon Ratchasima prison guard killed his ex-wife and her new boyfriend before taking his own life.

• The attack happened just weeks after the couple’s divorce and was reportedly driven by jealousy.

• Police are providing psychological support to the couple’s ten-year-old daughter, who witnessed the tragedy.

Sorted out Thai style

Some men who are completely devoid of any level of emotional development can't simply walk away from a failing relationship, and they have to wreak havoc in the lives of the people around them.

A man was self-esteem, a man with dignity, a man with honor simply accepts the fact that things haven't worked out and moves on. God bless you woman, we spent some good years together, I wish you well, and I hope things work out for you, have a great life. See ya.

Feel very bad for their daughter... not only seeing all this play out in front of her, but losing both her parents as well.

Seriously anyone with half a brain can spot scum bags or scammers some of them drive taxis and want you to go into tailor shops or gold shops been that way

For years In certain areas

Clearly the suspects' feelings more important to him than those of his poor daughter.

He obviously had no sense of sequence. It should have been himself first then.........

Some people, clearly, should not be allowed to have and carry guns...

Starting with, the emotionally unstable types in government employ who turn them on their own family members.

So 3-way murder suicides are uniquely Thai?

Please, tell us more.

And another family ruined by a promiscuous and disloyal woman. Tragic.

Whenever a tragedy happens, you can count on a woman having caused it.

Why did you say this was sorted out "Thai style"?

Because it's a known way that Thais sort out issues.... they also use many other methods, knives, hatchets, hammers.... anything that's at hand when the fuse is lit.

I never said it was unique to Thailand, and never intimidated that it never happens elsewhere.

So it's more "universal style" than Thai style.

Thanks for the clarification (I think).

Speaking of childlike low implulse control. The manchild Thais are problematic especially when they have guns as evidenced by this case and the several cases per year we get to hear about on here.
