Thailand's Ministry of Commerce has partnered with the Thai Influencer Association to leverage the nation’s influencer industry, now numbering over 3 million creators, to aid Thai local brands in penetrating global markets. This announcement was made by Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, Director-General of the Department of Business Development (DBD), on October 7. The partnership aims to ensure sustainable growth and standardized practices within the influencer sector, while also enabling Thai entrepreneurs to expand internationally.

The Thai Influencer Association has been instrumental in advancing professional and ethical standards in the influencer industry. This includes crafting a code of conduct with the Consumer Protection Board and connecting influencers with business owners through training programs. These initiatives focus on content creation and influencer marketing, aiding influencers in accessing international markets.

By building networks and collecting industry data, the association provides businesses with guidance on selecting relevant influencers. They also advocate for the use of micro-influencers, who are budget-friendly and effectively reach specific target groups. Influencers are recommended to use a "three contents, one live" strategy for better algorithmic engagement and visibility.

Discussions between the DBD and the Thai Influencer Association have included strategies to promote entrepreneurs, including community-based businesses, by integrating storytelling with influencer marketing. This collaboration aims to drive economic growth through digital platforms, as influencers increasingly play a pivotal role in e-commerce.

With the global creator economy growing rapidly—comprising over 60 million content creators generating an annual economic value of more than $20 billion—Thailand's initiative aims to harness this momentum. The collaboration aligns with the DBD’s mission to support entrepreneurs in brand building and enhancing competitive advantage via digital technologies.

The partnership underscores the Department’s dedication to fortifying Thai businesses and contributing to the digital economy and export sector’s growth through cross-sector collaborations.

Key Takeaways

  • Thailand partners with influencers to boost local brands globally.
  • Influencers receive guidance to improve visibility and target niche markets.
  • Strategy aligns with global creator economy trends and e-commerce growth.

Thai influencers... foreign influencers must have a workpermit, which they will not get as it is only for Thais and foreigners are bound to the strict regulation of all the rules that will limit their freedom of speech and writing, as defamation, section 112, and other laws for computer crime and misuse will be forced on them..

Thai influencers only do what them will be told

These influencers have become a parody now. No one takes them seriously.

Always revolve around the following :

1) Thailand is sooooooooooooooooo CHEAP. You can live in a 5 star luxury condo for two dollars a month. But just never video your room, just show common areas.

2) You can dine in michellin level food for 1 dollar a year.  Don't forget to practise orgasm face when you took in.  REALITY IS it's dishwasher water with raw pork.

3) Keep pushing areas where no one goes.

Complete utter parody these days. Annoying too. SOME BEHAVE LIKE THEY CRACKED THE MATRIX

Lisa who. Minelli?

"Thailand's Ministry of Commerce has partnered with the Thai Influencer Association to leverage the nation’s influencer industry, now numbering over 3 million creators, to aid Thai local brands in penetrating global markets."

Seriously, how Thai influencers are known outside of Thailand?

Of the the possible handful or two who are known, how many will be listened to?

(Unless one is targeting overseas Thais.)

Influencers will rule the world, a world where no-one makes or does anything anymore, except producing Vlogs.

Then what ?

Luckily there's still intelligent people out there that research what influencers state.  I do, especially if it's about food or health issues.

The promoter are usually fairly accurate, especially if no connection to the product.

The haters are a little too obvious.

Then theirs the ones that back up what they state with real believable non industry funded studies.  Pretty easy to sort through the BS.   Along with plenty of folks that simply hear things enough times, they believe it.

They should really just devalue the baht a bit and save all this nonsense and make it a bit cheaper like it used to be. More bang for the buck will reach further than the bs the influencers will be spreading.

And there's a big lock of honesty about the products they try to promote.

Cosmetics is just one category. A few months ago my Thai granddaughter bought some Thai cosmetics on line, the blurb claimed they were are analysed and approved by the relevant authorities.

What arrived was rubbish, making my granddaughter very disappointed and it caused a rash on her legs, arms, body and face.

Her Thai mother pushed her to contact the influencer which produced no valuable / specific conversation / data etc. She contacted the manufacturer who under pressure agreed the product had never been submitted for analysis / certification, in fact the manufacturer didn't know how / where to do that.

Her mother took the phone (which had been on speaker phone) and scolded the manufacturere who responded 'you're not being fair, I want some money to buy a top smartphone'.

Since all placed in the hands of a senior officer at the health ministry.

All of the above happens dozens of times every day.

Why would the gov't promote the idea of influencers.?

First thing to be aware, is that foreigners with much money to spend will not come to Thailand. They will go to other places in the word so Thailand may need to avoid trying to attract this specific market.

Focus on the foreigners, the retirees those who have property in Thailand. The winter birds and so on, Make visa issues more simple and less a hassle. All those the European retirees who have good budgets, should be given a hassle free visa for at least 5 months in the e-visa websites of the government.

There is currently far to much restrictions. For instance once you get the visa online you must use in 3 months. People change plans so such e-visas for instance need to be valid for at least no less then a year to be used to go. And all the other bureaucratic hassles for driving licence renewal or bank account and all the absurd documents asked. Why not just show blue book or lease agreement and that shoud be enough to get the driver licence renewal or bank account ?

Last but not least the prices. For a few years, prices in malls all over is same or higher then the prices in Europe. That's totally useless and nobody will buy in Thailand if this goes on. Quality is declining and prices are going up. Before for exemple, it was great ot have suits or <deleted>s made in Bangkok, Now they use crappy cloth, overcharge and the workmanship quality is horrible. They are using unqualified people to stich the clothes. These may seem small details, but at the end of the day they will harm spending in Thailand and it is already happening for few years now.

People come to Thailand to get good quality at prices that are lower then Europe or in the West. Keep that in mind. 🙏

Thank you.

So, instead of a giving visitors a hospitable and memorable experience that makes them return, they mostly try to coerce people with the help of influencers to visit, if only once... 🤔

Like opening new bank accounts... My K-Bank bank account was emptied out while I was abroad via an elaborate scam! I complained with the bank, but couldn't even get an overview about the total damage. I was asked to talk to some staff over the phone, but, without getting any money refunded. No written acknowledgement whatsoever about the complaint! - And the worst thing is, I cannot even close the account and move on, as it is so difficult now to open new bank accounts...

Well, personally, I wouldn't travel anywhere only because an influencer tells me about a destination.

Makes a change from French lessons given cards, or Suzie 012967543.

"They also advocate for the use of micro-influencers, who are budget-friendly and effectively reach specific target groups."

I suppose if I suggest a restaurant or guest house to some wandering stoned tourist who stumbles into me on beach... that makes me a 'micro-influencer'? or perhaps a 'nano-influencer'? Do I now need a work permit or maybe dispense some baksheesh?
