There is an old thread on AN, where someone asks if you pay a girl an allowance. It's quite funny, the first 50 posts are all guys expressing outrage "Not me, oh no, I would never pay"...hilarious.

 

Anyway, there is a clear difference between a Thai girlfriend who is in a relationship with one man alone and a prostitute. The former relationship involves  intimacy that encompasses all aspects of life, not just sex. A prostitute is a woman who engages in purely transactional sex, with no shared life beyond the specific commercial transaction, and a wholly indiscriminate choice of partner. Very different,.
