Wise fee GBP to THB gone up i think

Featured Replies

Not only GBP.

1800 EUR in June.

Fee 13.56

Would now be 14.90.

EUR more expensive than GBP.

1000 EUR would cost 9.01!

Yes they aren't being transparent about it, they email you but have to search to see what the latest fee is

Wise are picking your pocket @ £7.85/1000. Last Friday, 21/11, I transferred £1500.00 @ £1.54. Who is being robbed?

You have a choice if your not happy send it from your bank it will cost you at least £20 and take several days to arrive it was £6+ before you’ll have to cut down on you beer intake if your struggling

Please provide a copy / receipt otherwise I will put it down as you’ve been drinking to much

Funny that I have received 2 emails from wise recently saying how they have reduced their fees.

Looks like they are conning us.

Indeed.

What's always missing is the simple basics:

Input) total money deducted from home country account/money.

Output) amount of Thai Baht credited

Divide output / input (rate overall), date of transaction and then you can compare.

Easy to find zero fee transfer options. But what's the catch?

Misleading and generalised statements are not helpful.

HSBC charge £5 for transfers that normally arrive within 24 hours.

They also have a Global Money account that says no fees involved. Not used it but looks a bit like a Wise clone.

The HSBC exchange rate is about 0.5 baht lower than Wise for GBP transfers.

I don't use the HSBC exchange rate, I send GBP.

I also have a Wise account with the card and have monitored the difference between the two since it was Transferwise, and for £1000 there is very little in it, swings both ways.

My money should have been transfered today , I have had no e mail from them like they usually do.

Just been searching for the problem as it was Two days late last month , they said it was a security issue , then when I contacted somebody else , they said it was a delay on their part , now it appears it will be Two days late again this month.

They are advising us not to get in contact with them as they are busy.

I feel they are on a downward slope.image.png.cf420773ebe1dfb222228f764abfd491.png

Then the exchange rate will be even worse, and you pay 500 baht receiving fee to your Thai bank.

Would be best if people didn't panic and just were patient for a few days

Garbage. The exchange rate is the market  rate at the time funds hit the BOT, effectively the same as Wise.

The receiving fee is 250 baht ,about the same as the Wise fee.

The only difference is down to the transfer time difference, unpredictable, sometimes in your favour, sometimes not. At the end of the day it is not worth changing something that has worked well for the past 17 years on the possibility of saving a few pennies.

Yes you're right, pure garbage you are posting, as usual.

This is the exchange rate if your pounds hit the Thai bank right now

And this is the rate from Wise

Looks the same NOT?

The devil's in the detail, what was the exchange rate?

Probably a hedge against increased volatility post the budget.

I transfer UK £s to a BHT account on the bank app. NO FEE. The exchange rate is variable on the day and by the second. So I get the best available at the time.  I then transfer BHT to the Thai bank via the app, the fee for which is as stated, (67.57). As far as I remember, the exchange rate was 42.38. I have no means of checking that, as the app does not record that infor. However, the BHT amount transferred was 63.570.
