What do you wear on your feet in Thailand? Or is it nothing at all?

For me, I usually go out in a comfortable and lightweight pair of cross-training sport shoes with ankle-high socks underneath and a high quality high arch insole that I add for extra support.

Indoors, I wear soft foam slippers to protect my heels from the hard floors. I rarely go barefoot anymore unless I am at the beach or walking on carpet.

What, like the 30 Baht kind from the night market? Do you wear socks at least to hide your minging toes?

I wear normal shoes and no shorts because I wear pressure socks

Slides as opposed to flip flops as I can't stand having that 'bit' wedged between my toes. Lightweight Skechers trainers for walking/exercise. If going out/wearing long trousers/travelling - Ben Sherman or Adidas trainers.

If staying in a hotel or apartment on a break then disposal slippers which we have a ready supply of.

I have asked the Mrs to give me a 'piggy back' everywhere to avoid having to wear anything on my feet but she was having none of it.

Jesus sandals, capri pants, and no underwear. Free ballin, cause that's how I roll! Oh... wait... no, I was thinking of Harriett.

Perhaps you should have said normal shoes and long trousers as you wear pressure socks.

The above reads like you wear normal shoes and just your underwear as you wear pressure socks. Unless of course this is exactly what you do wear....

Dependes where Im at, so got shoes for every occasion.

My favorite shoes for the moment is barefoot shoes.

I do not expose my toes in SE Asia. I have seen too many foot injuries ruining lives. Ripped off toenails, festering cuts, pus filled wounds...

Merrells rule. Wear socks and they are even dressy

If you're in Thailand you're breaking the law. Odd but true. Apart from that free-balling having my old boy swingin' in the air wouldn't sit well with the missus.

Just wear a pair of rubber thongs

Not when I'm walking a long way ,but if in getting a grab to the bookshop all I put on is thongs

Must be a sight ,old wrinkled Terrance walking up the street with no undies !!!

Flip Flops/Sandals/trainers/bussines shoes/steel cap boots.

Depends on the occasion.

also, flip flops are a problem if you need to dodge oncoming traffic when crossing the roads. not easy to sprint in those things.

No, that´s only how it sounds if you don´t want to understand and try and correct to native English on a forum with multi-national members.

Back to topic. Daily, I usually wear regular shoes with laces, long trousers and long-sleeved shirts. Not the sporty kind.

I think you should try and wait until it´s free to walk over.

Damn expensive foam sandals, but they last a year instead of a month, and comfy.

Have a pair for indoors and a pair for outdoors. Tile floors are brutal.

These. Skechers. Soft and comfy. Allow your feet to spread. Easy to kick off on the odd occasion a shop has the "Please Remove Shoes" sign.

I often see people walking around here in Samui with no shoes on. The roads are filthy, pavements cracked and uneven, and all sorts of bits of metal detritus lying about. Why would someone want to risk cuts and infection by walking on that?
