Thanks for reading and thanks for all those “likes” you gave along the way. If you are 27 or 57 it really shouldn’t matter all that much.

Of course it may not end up being your last place but having your own home at any age can make life a little more comfortable and enjoyable.

Hope things workout for you.thumbsup.gif

Sometimes I just couldn't help myself with the likes, a lot of what you write is just great humbling honesty and its something that is lost on here

sometimes. I enjoy your posts from naam, crossy, mr bojangles and your good self, I really like Naam's home its a cracker but all I see is

Lt. Commander Worf walking around with his big rigid head. If on the other hand you are Michael Dorn then please accept my apologies. biggrin.pngbiggrin.png

Thanks for the reply VF keep up the good work, here and elsewhere.

if home/living is a high priority on a TV-member's list he/she is always welcome to drop by and meet the real Naam if he is not in another country where, under threat of another heart attack, he is since more than a year wrecking his nerves one week nearly every month, spending $$$ to bring back a crumbling ruin (built pre World War I) to its former formidable beauty which (when finished) will make his home in Thailand look like a cheap hut.

this is the twin of the building i am talking about, in a better shape, located about 15 kilometers from the one i am remodelling. my problem is neither skilled workers nor materials but some goddàmn bastids of a certain government authority who drive me nucking futs with their various unreasonable demands of "all sorts".

Which country is it located in?

I like it. I think some people go a bit over the top with their huge mansions but then again maybe they have all the inlaws living with them.

It’s really not about the in-laws but I am sure you already know that. Different people just have different needs. Some need more, some need less.

While it is nice to tell someone you like their house, putting down someone else’s choices in the same breath tends to distract from the otherwise positive vibe.wink.pngsmile.png

Very true Each to their own.

While one would hope the answer would be self-evident, it appears that to some it is not.

Please, lets not go down the path of turning this into another rancorous Thai-way, Farang-way debate.

Anyone have a picture of their house they would like to share with the rest of us?smile.png

While it may be self evident...it may also come across as thin skinned and someone cannot handle a bit of criticism...constructive or not.

Most people can handle a bit of good and bad in construction and design.......maybe not in here though.

My boy and I rode up a dirt rack yesterday and came across a nice little house similar to that....it was even called 'the Porch'.

Not being from the land down under David006, I am not getting the “Hills” references and seem to be missing something. Care to explain?

My place, all finished now, been built 10 years, this is a pic i took about 5 years ago , it is very important you keep the maintanance up and use good quality paint, not like the thais they build something and thats it, no maintanance, look at some of the hotels.

We have repainted it twice in 10 years, the guys have just finished it in March, and very pleased with the work, but the price of paint was 70,000 baht, Used Dulux and Hamerite to do the Gates etc. guys are now putting the drive down and building a garage, at last.

Have to agree with you on the paint just about to do mine the paint and varnish will cost 100,000 baht but I will save on labour as my gardner is a great all rounder he works his socks off for 500 bht a day plus his lunch
