Part of Bo Phut may have electric problems this morning (16/04), and also telephone, cable-TV and Internet, as there was a fire in the cables early this morning when I passed. Photo taken 04:49 (mobile phone in rain) at Ring Road next to BigC. Fire department had arrived, but cannot use water on electric cables, some had fallen down to the road, other hangig so low that cars could not pass. Seems like the whole bundle burned, so that's way I presume it's more than just power.

There was a power cut in Chaweng shortly after 4:30 and black out all the way up to intersection by Tesco-Lotus/Thai Inter Hospital, and further down to BigC; perhaps that was caused by the cable-fire. Had to turn and cross by the so-called Ghost Road to Bang Rak and Fisherman Village back to Ring Road, which was also black-out there.

the principal question here is, why is someone driving at 04:49?smile.png

Had no electricity here in southern Chaweng this night.

Reminds me of some posters that praises the "good old times" on Samui.

Guess they like sleeping without air-con or fan in 30+ degrees.

That's in principle a very good question, but easy to answer, as I often pass that area around 5am – on my way back from tech-dance in Chaweng – but due to power cut, and no light'n'sound, it was a bit earlier last night/this morning...thumbsup.gif

Since around 7pm electricity has been real crappy. It started with a boom, then power went down to about 100V. Around 9 it was getting better again, but then another even louder boom, which tripped my safe t cut, and since then half power again. This is on Bondkai road.

I hear reports that it's a mess in many areas on Samui. Anyone have any details?

Here at Hua Thanon, complete blackout for two hours 9.30pm to 11.30pm so I presume Lamai also.

My area of Ban Por when out for about 45 minutes, at 10 pm last night....

Out in the night West side, blew out capacitor on my water pump.

Today 17th April, power cut again here and Lamai 10am back on at 3pm but after 15 minutes down again until 4pm. No warnings, no explanation which coming at the hottest time of the year must be life threatening for those elderly residents and tourists. No one cares here so time to move on to Mogadishu !

Heat ,

Air con, Fans etc........

Yep. Just after 19:30 again. Big boom and electric half gone. Same as two days ago. I guess too many people turning the aircon on this time of the day, and it blows the transformer(s). Anyone else having the same? Two days ago it was a mess island wide.

Electricity just went out in my area of Bangrak. It sounds very quiet and looks very dark all around. Any other areas affected? Normally when it is a local outage it is preceded by a bang. Not this time though.

There is a sign up in my building today.

Electricity out from 08:30 - 17:30 on 18/10/2016 in Bangrak due to maintenance work on high voltage power lines.

Yes that happened. It was also switched off from 12:30 - 17:30 yesterday without notice. Friends report power outs in other areas on the East side of the island yesterday as well.

I tend to find a fraction of the actual electricity issues are reported here on the forums.

And after two days of no electricity during the day, now again (23:58) the power went off. Sigh...

Ours went off for about an hour during the night as well, around 1:30am I think

Power out Bangrak since 8am-ish.

Has anyone heard anything about this power cut? Planned or unplanned? PEA announced?

Just wondering if it's going to be all day or not.

There was a power problem yesterday lunchtime on the beach there, seemed like they had lost a phase. Maybe they are fixing that today.

My TV screen gave up last week, presumably as a result of the mickey mouse power supply.

That's why I use surge protectors on all my stuff. Even for charging my mobile phone.

So did I but the damage still occurred.

No problem in Chaweng.

OK here in Bangrak at the moment. Fingers crossed stays OK.

Ghost Road power down to 1 phase for 12 hours yesterday from 2am. Plus 2 other cuts. Seems to have settled down now. I hope.

Ghost Road towards Bangrak power off, not for the first time in the past week or so.

Anyone else?
