Fossilized bones, unearthed on Phuwiang Mountain in Phuwiang district of Thailand’s northeastern province of Khon Kaen about three decades ago, have recently been identified as belonging to a previously unknown meat-eating dinosaur species.

According to Mr. Sommai Taechaval, director-general of the Mineral Resources Department, the dinosaur, which is from the Cretaceous period about 80 million years ago, was named Phuwiang Venator Yaemniyomi in honor of Mr. Sutham Yaemniyom, a retired official of the department who unearthed the fossilized bones in the Phuwiang national park about 30 years ago.

The fossil was studied by Mr. Adul Samathi, a PhD student at Bonne University, Germany, who said he became interested after having seen the fossilized bones and was convinced that they belonged to a special dinosaur species.

One problem Thailand didn't exist then-

They must have been aquatic dinosaurs :whistling:

Yep, seems someone worked out in was created on either the 2nd or 22nd of September 4002 BC.

Willing to be corrected though.

????????

I'd really like to know the exact date so I can set a date for the party.

No one claimed that Thailand did exist at that time but it did exist 30 years ago when the fossil was found.

But, but, but...isn't the earth only 6000 years old?

Of course. Plans to dig deeper were shelved for fear of falling into outer space.

........have recently been identified as belonging to a previously unknown meat-eating dinosaur species.

How can a previously unknown animal be identified?

What is difficult to understand here?

Sure the landscape might have been different but today it is Thailand where the bones are.

I have seen other species  in the Phuwiang area (showroom etc.).

Phuwiangosaurus Sirindhornae,  Siamotyrannus Isanensis ...

Driving past highway 12 you always see that dinosaur sculpture at the Phuwiang T-section.

Exactly why it clearly states...'what is Thailand today'. Pretty sure that the province of Khon Kaen is part of what is known as Thailand today.

Yet there is no single real dinosaur ???? bone in any world museum. Isnt it suspicious?

Look at cartoon one. How many of today's countries and continents can you see?? Thailand existed but in another place and in another form.

Thailand was formed from parts of two micro continents that existed from the Precambrian (Indochina and Shan-Thai) that fragmented from Gondwanaland (see cartoon 2) and finally crashed into the Asian plate after rotating and rifting during the time that they drifted northward from the southern hemisphere to the present low latitude position in the northern hemisphere.

So Thailand hosts some very old rocks, as well as relatively younger ones from the Cretaceous period (145-66 mya), especially in the NE (Korat Plateau), which could quite conceivably contain our new carnivorous friend.

The only important details is that it also hated Farangs ????

Well, they certainly weren't around then.
