Bloody idiot having money like that around even on his first night. Sad to say farangs are a target in Issan villages. Our dog has been poisoned 4 times in the last few months, the last time

  • And the wife's big mouth bragging about all the money and gold her ATM had with him helped in the theft.  My wife has no idea how much cash or what's in the bank.  She can only guess.  She sees I carr

The butler did it. In the kitchen with a knife.

Wow, they had banks last time I was in isaan. Maybe they have closed them all.

It was their first night back, hadn't had time to go to the bank. Someone though, knew

the money was there.

With the cash and gold they could have been organising a Buddhist wedding ceremony although all that money on show is s stupid idea.

better to be wealthy and look poor than the other way around.

sorry to these guys who were robbed I hope the police catch the thieves I’m sure they will if a reward is involved.

good luck

Im sure the `onkel` or `brother` is a happy man now.

Stories like this is how smart people learn and stupid people stil do the same thing over and over again.

Well....... We had kasikorn Thai and siam commercial bank in Chiang Dao. They have closed them indeed!

The nearest siam commercial bank now is 75km to the north. The nearest kasikorn Thai bank is 45km to the north. And yes, both branches in Mae taeng have also been closed. So your comment may indeed not be so far off......

No, it is very common in Hua Hin!

Some one close anyway put the thief up to it.

Personally I would tell the wife/partner I am off and see what happens.

He should leave the village and leave it to the elders to sort out and the mystery will be resolved with the passport & plastic being found in a field by someone wanting a reward.

In addition someone will get drunk & be seen to have money all of a sudden perhaps a new M/C too and the appropriate face saving actions will come about.

A safe should be his next purchase or a ticket home.

How stupid must one be to leave so much money and gold in a bag and then stays at another house until 2am ?
I smell a fishy story.
Was it 80.000 ? He would still be dumb like hell...

Welcome to Thailand mate in the Land of smiles. Just a beginning.

A bit young at the age of 32 for that ????

Good eye, Was it that silly excuse for a beard that threw off the age investigator?

Brother of the bride?...if she has one

Can't believe it was strangers

I would stash the money right under my side of the mattress for the night

Wifey beating her gums to Family and " Friends " about how much they have, just to brag and show off, and what do you know ?

Now they have Bugger all.

Poisoned the dogs so they would not bark & raise the alarm possibly?

We don't know this. It could be anything to even dislike of foreigners.

i love all the smart Alecs on here, so very wise after the event, and definately an inside job, any farang would think his property would be safe in the mother in laws house, how wrong that was.

There's wise and there's common sense.

Never put all your eggs in the one basket simple.

I never have more than 500 baht in my wallet at a time, the big notes are in my jean pockets, either side of my jewels [emoji846]
Right where the lady boys go for first

Welcome back to the Land of smiles.

How did the thin guy get into the house?  Did they say if a window was broken or door pried? Key left under the mat?

and 5 baht weight of gold

They are back from USA with gold in the bag?

Fairy tale ????

100% inside job. But why the hell would you keep that kind of money cash anyway?? In Isaan of all places??

Plus- isn't it illegal to bring that kind of money and gold into Thailand without declaring it? Unless he actually did he might be in for some more trouble soon....

Only back for a day but got the hang of the pointing. Hard luck mate. You're not the first one to be robbed and won't be the last. ????

Sad but silly thing to do in the first place by carrying so much in a remote location. Can police check if he has some insurance policy coverage back in the US? ????️

That kind of valuables, anyone will keep it closer at night or locked rather then in a living room, if thats the case????
