Having experience in the field. I find it very hard to believe that this vehicle was not already intercepted 10 minutes later. Something is off line here. Bikes are for weekend enjoyment he should be in the car.

Two posters have referred to the Thai prime minister as the head of state.  He is not:  he is the head of government.  H. M. The King is the Thai head of state.  Just as in the UK, Betty is the head of state.

Christ, what's it cost to build a helipad in his backyard? Have him motor to work in a Huey. Nothing special required in comms -- he's not out of contact for that long. Oh, yeah, the knowledgeable man in the street would scream about the cement cost for the helipad, and for the Huey gas (Army pilot's already on salary, but they wouldn't realize that). That it frees up the PM's time and reduces traffic jams and related fuel costs of car commuters -- would be lost in the fact that the taxpayer paid for the helipad.

And, that all these knowledgeable men in the streets have the vote just assures Democracy is a wonderful goal -- except when idiots elect an idiot (I'm American). Careful what you wish for, Thailand.

The interesting thing will be the reaction from the people if the enlightened ones do a severe crackdown on students, then all hell may let loose, and there may be some civil unrest, interesting times at present.

oh dear ... I hope our PM was ok. Sounds like road rage if you ask me, the cops should find that road menace and quickly. I trust our Prime Minister general Khun Prayut Chan O Cha was unfazzed by the incident and carried on as normal. Good that nothing happened to anyone ...  that driver can be dealt with later.  Or was it another supporter wanting to greet our PM ....  who knows, he has millions of thai's who like him and support him.

I've witnessed a motorcade with the PM (head of government, not head of State) in it and have seen normal civilian vehicles in front and behind, not having closed the road, a near impossible thing to do I would suggest in this country.

 

There were police vehicles with lights a flashing at the front and rear of the fairly long convoy. If someone was hacked off by the cavalcade driving quickly in the offside lane, they must have realised something unusual was occurring.

 

I have seen 3 car convoys, unmarked vehicles with blue lights and travelling between Farnborough airport and London with a certain head of State, before they became head of State. Travelling high speed along the M3 motorway, everyone gets out the way. 

 

Yielding to emergency service vehicles.

 

Hacked off or not, best to stay out of the way, keep your head down and don't antagonize the keepers.

How did the pursuer know it was Prayuth?  Dark, bullet-proof glass?  It was probably just some guy taking advantage of following in the traffic-free slipstream.  Thai drivers do it all the time with ambulances.

I saw Thaksin when he was PM and his wife Pojaman in their bulletproof Holden pull up at Gaysorn Plaza and they went shopping. Not much of an escort with them, a couple of cop bikes and another car and that was it.

Obviously our current illustrious leader needs protecting from the people. Apparently there's quite a few not happy with the job he's claiming he's doing.

 

Perhaps there's a chance they won't vote for him again, even if a couple allegedly did the first time. I put it down to the pre-school kids he used to count the voting slips.

See these Motorcades quite often now probably never the PM but self proclaimed VIP's

on the highway they hog the right lane forcing people to overtake on the left and often block traffic I've honked my horn at them as well!

they deserved it! Better travel discreetly then no one knows who you are or take an helicopter.
