All this is BULL, my girlfriend was riding down beach road Jomtien early this morning and she passed three bus loads of Chinese tourists exiting the busses and going onto the beach.

This is starting to be like a fish out of water story, more flip flopping than one can endure as they try to keep the tourism, that they believe they should have alive.  It's already on life support f

I am not saying that you are wrong but, maybe they are Chinese tourists already were already here prior to the restrictions or maybe Chinese residents / Thai of Chinese ascendence. Plenty of them in Bangkok and they do speak Chinese among them as I speak my own language with my co-Nationals.

One cannot assess whether they are tourists, wouldn't you agree ?

Are they going to collect evidence from Phuket first then analyse it to see if it is successful and what are the factors for success. Or are they going to trial it nationwide before trialing it in Phuket? The reason I ask the question is that 99% of government policy seems to be based on the Fire, Aim, Ready model of problem solving.

Phipat, he looks honest as the day is long........

What I don’t get is why a returning Thai does not have to be Covid-tested before departure and is free to move all over Thailand after 14 days, while a foreigner must be tested before flying and can only travel freely after 21 days, under this scheme.......

Or maybe they are Martians posing as Chinese tourists. What better way to9 see Thailand and do complex scientific research than to take a bus tour?

wow really need to be a billionaire these days ????

It is not about money, it is about being cornholed for 14 to 21 days before he could get to his house and his wife having to do the same yet it being free to her.  You need to read in between the money issues.  Would you put yourself through the quarantine process and jump through the hoops when you have your wife by your side already.  I understand the guys who are separated from there families but what does it benefit someone who is living life, and whose only encumbrance here is a property which to him is nothing more than a place to lay his head.

But then you knew that and were just playing coy and looking to troll on......

I have seen lots of photographs of my grand nieces and nephews enjoying summer holidays in domestic holiday spots we were taken as children decades ago before the annual package holiday to the sun became the norm.  I think a lot of people are re-learning how to enjoy themselves at home for much less money.

Personally I would not be interested in travelling anywhere, until I can travel without any of these restrictions or risk.

I only hope the dancing girls in quarantine will be wearing their masks.

I am confused because tourists from Australia and New Zealand will be allowed in the middle of September already. On Aug 29th this source at the following link writes the following below. So there are still cases in both countries.

https://www.aa.com.tr/en/asia-pacific/australia-new-zealand-report-new-covid-19-cases/1956809

Cases in Australia rose to 25,570 with 112 infections reported in the past 24 hours, according to health officials.

New Zealand reported 13 cases in the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 1,727, including 22 deaths and 1,568 recoveries.

Don't be so obsessed with trivial details.

Who in their right mind would do this?

Not many, I believe they will be getting people to test this out by offereing cheap rates or cheap packages. Then they will announce how much of success it has been.

After that probably no one will come.????

I'm just wondering about testing in other countries. If you need a negative test 48 hours before departing then surely this is going to be super stress time. Imagine having everything in place then you'll have to lie about needing a test or maybe you can pay for it? You'll be sat at home biting your finger nails waiting for the test result to come back. I can see people either in the airport or on the way checking their emails every 20 seconds for the results. One slight hiccup then it's all over. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It all sounds safe, secure, a carefully calibrated, tentative first step. Then you notice the inconsistencies such as the one you illustrate so clearly and wonder just how carefully this will all be implemented.

It all sounds like a joke going through all the hurdles to get here and go thru them again makes no sense at all to even bother to come to Thailand with all this, then you are limited on where you can travel.

Phuket Model to be trialed nationwide

PHUKET (NNT) - Thailand Longstay Company is coordinating with some 200 potential tourists, who are set to be the first to travel to Phuket province, under measures against COVID-19, with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports viewing the group as a test of the so-called Phuket Model.

The Tourism and Sports Minister, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, said his office and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) are reviewing foreign cities that have been free of COVID-19 for at least 28 days and are assessing demand for travel to Thailand, so that collaboration with those countries can be discussed.

The Phuket Model, to be used for such tourists, was conceptualized by Thailand Longstay Company, which is looking to bring 200 tourists to the southern province. Measures for such visitors will include requiring a medical certificate, issued within 72 hours of travel in the nation of origin and submitted to the local Thai embassy, and a 14-day quarantine upon arrival. Travelers will be limited to the single province with a requirement that they enter another seven day quarantine if they wish to depart to another province. Those who test negative for COVID-19 after 21 days will be allowed to travel nationwide.

The Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, suggested each region select a pilot province for trialing the model. He called for public agreement to build confidence.

The Tourism and Sports Minister also commented on the We Travel Together program, which was recently expanded from five nights to 10 and from 1,000 baht for flights to 2,000 baht, saying spending power in the nation is currently reduced. So far, the program has only resulted in 500,000 rooms being booked from a target of 5 million. It has been suggested that large companies buy up the privileges and use them as rewards for employees. The Cabinet is to be asked to extend the program until the end of the year, rather than to only October, in support of the high season.

What possible medical/scientific justification exists for this extra seven days of quarantine? Fourteen days is either sufficient to show that you're virus-free, or it isn't - your destination in Thailand shouldn't change that.

Cases or infections , there is a difference , and does the above include the % false positives of the so called testing?

Going from an annualized rate of 40M down to 4M...so down 90%...don't see how this helps much.

Its all about stripping you of money. If your planning on going elsewhere in Thailand they want Phuket to get more money from you first. Its to fill there pockets.

Phuket Model , or social control around a negligent Influenza virus

Whilst the CDC/ WHO have come clean with the TRUE COVID deaths in the states today

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/08/shock-report-week-cdc-quietly-updated-covid-19-numbers-9210-americans-died-covid-19-alone-rest-serious-illnesses/?ff_source=Email&ff_medium=the-gateway-pundit&ff_campaign=dailypm&ff_content=daily

For ALL you believers out there only 9210 deaths in America, well short of a regular yearly influenza death rate

Carry on in fear of life itself

Roadblocks...phone geo-fencing. Phuket is an island, remember, only a couple ways in or out.
