BANGKOK, Sept 2 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha insisted that Thailand has not opened its door to welcome foreign tourists yet and people should not panic.

He said that the Center for Economic Situation Administration discussed many measures to help people from the impacts of the coronavirus disease 2019.

The measures included a 400-billion-baht rehabilitation budget, 100 billion baht of which was spent.

I wish that the Prime Minister would please allow retirees back.  We are not tourists.  Tourists come at their own leisure and convenience.  As expat retirees we are desperate.  6 months stranded abroad.  Still paying rent in Thailand and abroad.  Sleepless nights filled with anxiety and losing hope.  compassion is needed.  Please expand ASQ facilities and help us get back.

Just like any other Government in the World, at least in the UK we get a little cash help!

two things they should be doing to create as a safe as possible environment for when tourists do return is to have an effective track and trace system in place  (not the nonsense system they currently have) and effective testing taking place, there seems little interest in having either of these.

Yep even so I don't live in the UK I live in WA (I am an pensioner) I got more money

in the bank now than before Covid-19 I do agree it is pretty hard for the normal worker

and small business.

New plan: no more plans just waiting the vaccine !

The brainwashing of fear will be the biggest hurdle, not Covid or its figures.

Plainly, Thailand (and Prayuths) strategy has been to watch what other countries are doing and go one better.

That is an idiots lazy approach.

Akin to opening a business and simply charging 10% less than your competitor, instead of actually working out the margins needed to turn a profit.

And anyway, opening up will never happen when individuals are running around saying stuff like:

oh.. international travel will be 2-5 years away...

oh.. we need a vaccine...

oh.. we need track and trace....

bla bla and all the other rubbish

But all throughout, even though the simple fact has been that 98-99% of the total population will recover from this like a mild to bad cold...

people are still carrying on like its an instant death sentance.

Its stupid you can't fix.

And the stupid people have made to many stupid decisions on a grand scale.

So just who will make the first moves?

And how can any nation open up international travel when stupid xxxxs everywhere are still cowering in fear.

Its hard to see how there can be any recovery to this.

If the threat disappears in time, yet the fear and MSM B.S. keeps getting perpetuated, then what hope have we got?

Very dark times for humanity.

Foreigners that should be allowed? Representatives from the WHO

Please instead of your incredible claims of xxx days without domestic cases of COVID

in spite of many testing positive surprisingly 12 days after having passed covid tests both pre & post flights

but in quarantine for more than a week says a few things....

1) Untested Thai's on return flights are infecting others ...or even more likely....

2) Thai's working at AQH or transports etc are also infected

Not to mention the dozens of Cambodians/Burmese etc who came up positive after leaving Thailand

So please hand over some unbiased proof

Let the WHO send a handful of reps into Thailand & let them randomly test a few Thai's in a few provinces

Then publish your "claims"

I have to admit it was pleasing to be on the beach in Jomtien on Sunday evening with just a handful of others around.

The decision needs to come from ONE voice ( the PM). But no way will he have the balls to make final decision

  • Popular Post

Could he be saying what he's saying because there were no takers for his "Phuket model" prison style holiday?...

Cmon, be fair, One would presume they had to have a few meetings - prolly updated the projector to 1080p, pay a few scientist an appearance fee, book the silver mini vans from Pratyuts cousins company, his sister did the catering - fairy cakes with the pink icing. Power points need to be made, flower arrangements in the lobby and not forgetting those cut polystyrene signs, you go, poof, 100B doesn’t go far these days.

As everyone knows, the first 35% of a budget are always used to line the pockets of the wealthy.

Important decisions like this cannot be made without approval from the Supreme Headquarters in Beijing.

Yes it does, but mostly for people on here condemning the safest country to be in at the moment for not letting them come in freely and screw it up like the rest of the world. Don't get me wrong there "retirees", I feel for you but you all are out of this country of your own accord (retiree means don't have a job) traveled to worst infected areas in the world, again, of your own accord and are now complaining about your poor choice. Those of us who choose Thailand as the place we want to live are still here w/o issues and enjoying some peace and quiet in otherwise over crowded areas that we choose to move here to enjoy. Best Song Kran I've seen in a long time. :wai: I personally didn't move here to see a bunch a raging, drunk, weekend rich idiots terrorizing and trashing the country. Been a really peaceful year so far. Suck it up cupcake. This won't last forever and it does no good to complain that your host isn't revamping their country to suit you.

Your mistake is still thinking you are to be treated different in some way from a tourist because of the class of visa you are on.

You are only a temporary visitor for purposes other than tourism, don't pay taxes and have absolutely no rights here.

The sooner people waken up to their own predicament in Thailand the better.

It was always a gamble 'retiring' here and it looks like it has been a losing bet for many.

I know what you mean my wife went back to the U.K. as our daughter had her first child which was premature and was in intensive care for many weeks Then the virus hit I will be very surprised if she gets back to Thailand this year as there seems little hope it’s very frustrating for all of us keep strong !

So in your view a lot of retired expats are yobs or drunks or maybe both I’m pleased to hear through your great knowledge that this won’t last forever can you explain what forever means ,a week , a month, 3 months ,a year , 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, years how long is forever o you wise one . A lot of expats who come to Thailand as retired have good pensions , buy properties and support the Thai economy so I suggest you get off your high horse look in the mirror and hurl the abuse at yourself rather than others. “ Have a nice day “

Spent 25% holding onto the rest for what, people need it now?
