Have no more money there but cannot log in anymore because they need a Dutch phone number which I don't have. Tried to call them in Holland but no employees available because of COVID. ????

i had A$10 in a PayPal account i tried to get back years ago, i gave up from frustration even after i communicated with a live person, my attitude toward said person probably didn't help but that wasn't the point.

Paypal is going down the tubes. I was charged some exorbitant fees for 2 transfers to me, both mistakes. Even though I returned the transfers they didn't put the money for the fees back in my account. And they now have absolutely no support. This is a failing company.

Covid is a great excuse for their ineptitude. They now offer absolutely zero support, so when they rob you of their exorbitant and unexpected fees you have no recourse.

Agreed. Horrible organisation. You can have the pennies I have left in my account. I don't have the time nor inclination to login to save it.

Hmmm, may be in the same place. Have not used Paypal in years ...

Bit strange , I don't need a Phone number to login.

I got a Aus PPal account . I changed the Phone number to an Thai number and my Address to my current address in Thailand.    :jap:

Never had an phone number with them but when they made it mandatory I gave them my Thai Phone number, which didn't come true for some, not known by me, reason.

Tried several times and now they come up with "security issues" and that they can't confirm my Identity. And then a phone number to contact them.

The rest you know.

My account has no credit and they have closed it. Good riddance!

You were lucky. I thought I cancelled mine 8 years ago but they still send me emails of their change in conditions.

I think it's always amazing when people complain that a service is not free anymore.

PayPal is a business, what's so difficult to understand about that?

Ok, let forum websites start charging people ...

I would pay for TV forum if then they would remove all those hundreds of adds on each page.

I had about $50 credit balance with PayPal, couldn't access it because my email address had changed. Requests for assistance were met with a brushoff.

I won't be using PayPal again, and any business that wants me to do so won't get me as a customer.

Maybe you should have move the balance while you still had access to the account which was setup with your old email address.

And what do you expect now? Tell PayPal please transfer the 50USD from the account peter@hotmail to newpeter@gmail? It shouldn't be too difficult to spot the problem with that.

use the uBlock origin extension, it goes undetected

then 'right-click>block element' on every advert until they've all disappeared

On the TV website that probably takes at least half an hour...

There's an easy solution to most PayPal issues, including this one: Don't leave any money in your PayPal account, withdraw or spend any payment you receive immediately. Works for me.

Exactly, that is how paypal should be used, and when you make a payment select the option to let your CC or bank do the exchange, so no rip off paypal exchange rates either.

Paypal never earned any money from me, anything they earned was fees paid by the merchant

Hindsight is always 20:20, thanks for the advice.

I don't expect anything from them, and they should not expect anything from me. They are welcome to send annual fees to the defunct email address.

I can't remember the last time I used mine, but it was more than a year ago.

They might find they have lost a lot of customers.

I use Lazada now as it is far more convenient and has several different ways to pay, to say nothing of a much larger choice of items to buy.

Same my sentiment. Before i used Paypal for Ebay or some China based sites.

It has been ages that I have bought anything from such sites, since Lazada or Shopee and COD are so much more convenient, secure and cheaper

This is such a "storm in a teacup" - all you have to do to keep the a/c active is log in once a year as it says in the OP!

Hardly onerous I would have thought!

And my experience with getting help from PayPal is to use their online Chat, ask your question and you get an answer emailed in a couple of hours.

Used that facility twice this year - got the answers I needed both times.

Oh and to  @GreasyFingers  who gets unwanted emails from PP - just mark them as Spam once - job done!

Was it them, or was it you? ????

But seriously, I can only speak as I find and have no problem with PP...actually this plan of theirs helps to clear their database of what (might be) millions of accounts that are just never used. If you really don't need the a/c just close it, or empty it - personally mine has a zero balance but it's useful to have "just in case"

If you read my previous posts on the subject, you would know I can't empty it because it is linked to a defunct email address. And they were zero help when I tried to communicate with them, even though I had my account number, name, and password. I've written it off, but I don't like corporate thieves.
