The China vaccines are terrible. But to be fair, they did an excellent job manufacturing the virus...

The same could be said for MG cars.

Are they ineffective for the over sixties too?

Not to be confused with a happy ending.

Perhaps the China vaccine is just an insurance that if the virus didn't get you the vaccine would. I mean, got to have a backup plan, eh?

It's worrying. I guess I'll wait until I can get my hands on whatever my dad got in the UK; presumably, if he can take it at 90+, I can take it at 66. I'm assuming we're genetically similar, I'd have to ask my dear old mum to be sure, but that would take a seance.

Dr. Thiravat said that the blood clots might have been caused by a specific batch of the vaccine.

From the country that brought you genuine Niki shoes and Armani bags.... who would ever have thought it? ????

Same issues are happening in the states with Pfitzer and Moderna. It's just not getting coverage.

I saw this dated 15 April. I don't know which vaccine J&J produce?

"A federal vaccine advisory committee said Wednesday it wanted more data before deciding whether to resume use of Johnson & Johnson’s coronavirus vaccine, leaving in place a pause that federal officials had recommended because of a rare and severe type of blood clot identified so far among six of the 7.5 million people who received the shot."

We will never know the truth from China.

Definitely not. Don't forget who runs the place.

I would suggest that anyone getting vaccinated with Sinovac eat some aspirin first.

What if you are on Warfarin already?

Before I get vaccinated I want a cast iron guarantee from the hospital that they will cover any and all expenses arising from a 'sudden mystery illness' occurring within 30 days of the injection.

As a foreigner, it'd be foolish to get injected in Thailand without that guarantee.

But of course you won't get it. That's my fear. I might be forced to get a shot to keep my visa but then any complications i have to pay for.

For sure when you have pay have to pay between 6 and 10k a shot. according to Thaiger news . they have to guarantee its the proper stuff and any adverse affect is down to them

Let's have a reference for that please.

"They have since recovered after being given stroke treatments and no blood clots were found. "

Seems reference to this could have been made in the headline.

That's a surprise!

They are only 50.4 % effective which is useless

It sounds more like it is over 50% useful.  Very high compared with most helpers we use every day.

The second Webfact posting says that no blood clots were found. The patients had suffered 'stroke like' symptoms.

So maybe you'd like to withdraw this piece of amateur medical advice. Mixing medications without medical advice is not a good idea.

I would like very much to get the jab ,but not the Sinovac even if it was free

Would point out a vaccine stops you getting the disease.

None of the current injections available meet the definition of 'vaccine'.

Well, I've already decided that i won't be rushing out to take the vaccine.
I keep myself pretty fit, don't smoke, drink on occasion and i'm not very old.

I strongly disagree! A vaccine helps your body defend against the worst symptoms of the disease, often this means there will be no symptoms at all, it does not prevent you from contracting the disease in the first place.

EDIT TO ADD: my bad, I should have written the word virus, not the word disease, but I think it was clear what was intended.

How would that work when even the manufacturer can't be held responsible?

vac·cine
  1. a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases,

I can't fix your education, but I can ignore your posts.
(this is the CDC definition of vaccine by the way)

This is just wrong on so many levels.  As with ALL things manufactured in China it is shoddy and poorly made without any real testing.  This vaccine should be barred from use.

Definition of immunity

: the quality or state of being immune especially : a condition of being able to resist a particular disease especially through preventing development of a pathogenic microorganism or by counteracting the effects of its products

No where does it say that a vaccine prevents a person from contracting the virus, a vaccine is not the same as mosquito repellent!

Sinovac just needs some better marketing.  Why not rename the vaccine, ‘Covid-21’?

With the amount that is  being used, something would have been said.

Posted beginning of this month.

Sinovac says it has delivered some 200 million doses of its vaccine to more than 20 countries. The company estimates more than 100 million doses have been administered in vaccination campaigns around the world.

Incredibly depressing to  witness the continued level of ignorance  displayed  by so many who constantly declare superior intelligence !

No vaccine is claimed to  100% prevent infection !

All vaccines  have shown various efficacy in a range  from 50<90+ against the original and predominant strains apart from the South African strain.

All the vaccines have demonstrated a 100% reduction in the severity of symptoms and death otherwise.

Maybe no vaccine can be 100 percent effective, but I'd want a lot better than what Sinovac offers. From Wednesday's London Times:

China's Sinovac vaccine, which is widely used in the developing world, offers little protection until after the second dose according to Chilean scientists. The jab was only 16 per cent effective in guarding against Covid-19 after one dose, rising to 67 per cent efficacy after the second dose, according to a study of 10.5 million people.

And that is not the usual pointless 'poll' result we are usually fed after 300 people were asked. This is over 10 million who were checked.
