More VAX disappointment: PM Prayut puts the brakes on walk-in centers

Pathetic - you admit he failed than say 'well done'.

It appears the government hasn't achieved a confirmed batch of vaccines from AZ or elsewhere,  so obviously the walk-in centres are not needed.  It is a fine example of ' thai saving face ' .

But it is the only practical solution, until they secure millions of doses.

Only 8 AM and the first U turn of the day reported, keep 'em coming we all love a cheer up ???? How is he going to get 70 per cent of Bkk vaccinated in 2 months at this rate?

  • Well it's obvious, he does not want to be embarrassed by the words - "No have!"

Ah, register online so the govt has your info in a database for later use. Got it!

Another expert who knows how to monitor vaccine effectiveness without anyone saying anything.

Walk-in centers in the early days of the vaccination program was obvously a bad idea. It's not just the time it takes to inject someone, but also the fact that inoculees are supposed to wait 15 minutes or so in case of an adverse reaction. Also, huge crowds are a very effective way of spreading covid. Once the initial surge of demand is satisfied, then it makes sense for walk-in centers to be established.

Yay Stevens back.

Until they have adequate supply ....  walk-in centres would be useless, what are they going to give them, a free ice cream.

It is obvious the country hasn't secured or produced 10, 20, 30mil  or any significant amount of AZ or any other vaccine.

Well done Khun Prayut Chan O Cha,  a good decision.

But there were supposed to be millions of Vaccines available.  Guess the plans to vaccinate 70% of Phuket before July 1st and now vaccinate the taxi drivers is more important than those that work on the countries infrastructure.  Nationalism aside, we are all in this boat together, and the foreigners are rowing that boat in circles while the Government dawdles. Welcome back Steven.

People only want things to work the way they want, the bigger picture doesn't come into it.

To get the vaccine in the UK you have to be in a group that has been offered the vaccine, it's not an open house.

There was the suggestion that supplies had been diverted to where they were more needed.

Is this code words for the black market?

Ah right.. and I was starting getting worried about the lack of flip-flops during the past 2 days.

Yes Yingluck was innocent after all that so the election was even more unjustified lies. That injustice aside this guy is completely useless.

Not to derail the topic, but it was proven that the G2G trades were fake and 2 of her ministers are serving time. So shows just how bad it was. But my point was more that its a common trait of Thai governments. Lying and keeping the lies up. So you just can't trust anything they say unless you can verify. Just like how this government is lying about the vaccines how many they have. They say a lot of stuff but its all untrue. They quote the most positive scenario not reality. I seen it with every Thai government so far.

I can give more examples of the previous government their lies same as this one. I just brought it up as an example not to make this government look any better. Just showing its a trait of Thai governments to paint a beautiful picture while the facts are totally different. The problem is that reporters don't do enough digging.

This give the governments too much opportunity to lie and now that his lies would get exposed he changes tactic so he can still deny it and act like he did a good job.

The government is saying that they aquired and the plant is having troubles upscaling production. So the government is lying about the amount of vaccines they get and have to look better. They have failed but are trying to hide it.

This entire governance reminds me of when I was 16, smoking way too much dope, and hopelessly immature.

But I digress....

Good luck Thailand with your immunization.  Until immunization happens there will be absolutely no semblance of normalcy, full stop.

finally the hub of U-turns, and the showman running the show looking worse

every day, sad state of affairs in the Land of scams.

Looks like the Sino masters have let down the Covid Czar again.

Either that, or he wants to strictly control who gets the vaccines and when. Wouldn't want those pesky serfs getting it before any of the 'good people'.

Hopefully the registration app works better than the 90 day online reporting or we'll still be waiting for an appointment in 2026.

That or just go out and catch the virus and get it over with.

Been taking lessons from the best in the west.

He walked triumphantly back into No 10 wielding an increased majority a year ago to chants of “Get Brexit done”. But the tune soon changed and Boris Johnson has gone from “Mr Brexit to Mr U-turn”, in the words of one German newspaper, as he has lurched from disaster to disaster.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/dec/10/boris-johnson-year-of-u-turns

That was quite a reach, turning this round to Brexit.???? Still salty?

How about comparing Apples with Apples? How has Boris handled the vaccine rollout compared to Prayut?

IMO it is hardly a decision worth congratulating. Rather it is an inevitable  decision to delay purely and simply because , as you state, there is no significant supply of  vaccine available or guarantee of timely supply in any case.

Meanwhile the revelations about the prisons' internal pandemic may have created some undesirable international curiosity as to what or how to avoid criticism over "humanitarian" rights .

Could it be that vaccine that was intended  for general community schemes is quickly  being diverted to a panicked inoculation of the prison "community ?

Well you did mention it and she was found innocent by the Court. Reporters cannot tell the REAL reason and you know it and most Thais know it. BTW Prayut has the same scheme for rice. I totally disagree with your analysis and you have, in fact, derailed the topic. Leave the Shinawatras in the past - this guy is an imbecile compared.

If you want to see a caring compassionate society look at prisons, hospitals treatment of females, minorities etc. Thai governments fail continually.

Every other nation thats winning has walk-in or drive-in covid therapy, no questions asked, no names taken.

They're begging people to get the jab.

Here, as usual, they want everything micro-managed with triplicate paper copies signed in blue ink, and a hand drawn map of the human reproductive system.

Tragic Thailand and its tinpot Czar, welcome to the hub of chaos.

Competent IT people could, I expect, establish an accurate, useable registration program.

All of the good folks work on private sectors, I think, where the requirements and payscale far exceed government scale.

Not at the start of vaccinations. Once the surge died down, then walk-ins were allowed.

There won't be enough doses for all those "millions" of people who are desesperate to be injected with products still in phase 3, supported only by "emergency authorization" around the world.

For once, Prayuth did something sensible !

Enough of the hysteria... Mass vaccination is still a fantasy in Thailand... Everything depends on the local factory (for Astra Zeneca)... It will take time.

So back to the "step by step" policy and "prioritization" like other countries did.

First the old and the sick individuals. Health care personel. etc.

Is it too hard to understand ?

"Walk-in" system was just a PR stunt.

PR stunt? PR for what, this government's massive incompetence?

Is this a flip or a flop?  I have lost my way here.

Compassion has little consideration compared  with saving "face" over humanitarian scrutiny.

Yes, because if we all got the virus at the same time the problem would be solved, kinda like in India but even better!!

Lot of people dying every day here. Someday someone is going to get really mad that one of his dear relatives or friends has died because they don't care enough to get everyone inoculated as fast as America has, that's it's all about how much money they can get out of this, that they don't care about their own people, let alone foreigners, and that that someone might take things very personal and attack who is in charge, putting the blame on those that decide others fates. Not a good situation to be in. Other people's lives matter, but when you've already been protected, it seems that care goes away.

Well  done Mr. Prime Minister.  You have come up with more ways to destroy the  system them help it and the Thai people get their jabs.  You have caused more and more delays in getting the people healthy again.   You are killing more than you are helping.  You must be proud of yourself.  How many are you going to kill this month
