It's ALL about money with them and the explanation is simple plod on the street HAS to kick up money to his supervisor and so on and so on why do you think the chief of police in phuket received 10 mil THB from the incoming guy?

As it happens my wife comes from a police family in Thailand so I have a fair insight into the corruption, or at least the proceeds of it.  I won't go into details but suffice to say they all live a lifestyle that most would envy.   They range in rank from Sargent to Colonel (Pan).  The corruption is deep rooted and unbreakable.  It certainly helped us when we lived there, although of course I couldn't possibly comment on what that meant! 

Stinks, initial guess and theory, The son  didnt want to wait and needs the money ! Introduced some kind of toxin via food or drink, they passed out, were pushed unconcious in to the pool to drown, while he took a walk.The autopsy shows death by drowning, case closed, in true easy Thai fashion.

One adult person drowning in a swimming pool is unusual but occurs. The probability of 2 adults drowning in the pool on the same day would be miniscule. Accidental drowning..hmmm

Pool lights run on 12 volts.  Try putting each hand on the terminals of your car battery, and see if you die.

This begs an honest question. Aside from cops that have a specific (traffic) and or specialized (forensic pathologist) duty - what do 95% of the cops actually DO?!

 

At least immigration officers push paper from one side of the desk to the other. I have no idea what the purpose of police in this country.

And the reason the five ruling families of Dark Tao are so fabulously wealthy, is that they have been selling land illegally for decades, with the complicity and cooperation of the land office, and most likely the local government. Koh Samui and Koh Phangan are to some degree, lawless. But, the way those islands are operated, bears some resemblance to responsibility, and is done in a somewhat organized fashion. Dark Tao is a lawless land unto itself. It makes Tombstone, Arizona, back in the 1860's and 1870's, look like a beacon of law and order.

 

There is no secret here. And the solution to this problem is relatively simple, but will never, ever happen. Arrest the serial killer. Many know who the guilty family is. But, the problem is they are above the law. Any and all laws, including the army. This administration was created, to protect the elite, the wealthy, the connected, and those in power, despite proclamations to the contrary. So, the headman's son could not be arrested, even though the police, and many others knew who was guilty. Those poor Burmese chaps were framed, so this worm could roam free. And what does he do? He continues with his hobby of mayhem. If his father, the headman, had the slightest bit of intelligence, or control over his wayward son, he would ask him to behave himself, or at the very least to ply his trade elsewhere. Instead, he stays at home, and continues to inflict terror on Dark Tao. This family is fabulously wealthy, due to decades of illegal land sales. Therefore, they are untouchable. Even when it comes to murder, and mayhem. Totally above the law.

 

Do yourself a favor and never visit this island of plague, death, and horror. I have sworn it off, after having visited it at least ten times in the past. I learned to dive there. However, even the diving, is marginal at best. I will never return. I do not want to support the five criminal families, who run that island.

 

This place is as dark as anyplace in the region. It is the Louisiana bayou, of SE Asia. Avoid it. Deny it. Stay away, for your own good.

I play golf/tennis with a couple of 'pans', nice guys. I also know/worked for a 'pon', who is the head of 7 provinces in Isan. You don't get to be a 'pon' by being a nice guy. Most people have no idea what goes on in the world of these guys. Think about the  5 families in New York and it's not far removed.

The autopsies should be able to show whether electrocution was the cause, heart attacks or some other health issue.

 

For example, electrocution will mean limited water in the lungs compared to drowning, for both victims.

The only thing we know for sure is that now the son is a 34 year old billionaire . That alone would be enough for a big investigation . I geuss he knew they where going to the pool and he also must have known if they couldn't swim so why did he leave them alone there ?

You may be correct BUT this island has a history!

Why is luck involved? If you abide by the rules and contribute to any country, you should be allowed to stay. The US doesn't have near the rules Thailand has for Thai's to stay there.. You contribute and stay out of trouble, you should be allowed to stay anywhere on earth. There are bad police in every country, and a lot here are looking the other way where human trafficking is involved, as Thailand has a huge problem where that is concerned. There are a lot of corrupt police everywhere, and I know quite a few cops here that are very good at their jobs and legit, and the news shows the opposite also. As far as the post is concerned, it looks to be a homicide to my thinking. Drowning two people only takes a few minutes with only two strong men involved. Billionaires are huge targets and should have people watching them.
