Nobody cares for the 50 cent beer buyers anymore.

So why does Cambodia offer 50 cent beer by the glass then?

Just for the fun of it?

Or maybe it's because people actually like value for money when they are on holiday.

Your statement is a little perplexing to say the least!

What would possess a wealthy, group 1 type, to even bother considering any of this????

If I were a dollar millionaire I wouldn't even be here.

Why not. I could live anywhere in the world and year round I'd choose here. If you don't like it just clear off. The only issue I have with Thailand is the whinging foreigners.

One further group has been suggested for immediate entry by the Thai Medical Organization :  Anyone willing to donate a kidney upon arrival

I doubt if anybody fulfilling these requirements will need to work. They already have enough to live comfortably.

So the carrot of working without a permit probably doesn’t count for much.

As for buying Thai land - no South East Asian country allows this - this will be retracted soon, they are not serious , just using it as bait :)

Nonsense. Why does anyone go anywhere else except Cambodia then? If 50 cent beer is the key attraction for you nobody will miss you when you've gone.

Hmm...as mentioned by one or two above - another ridiculous list of dreams...and there is never anything for the many thousands of expats who have been here for years, and spent many, many millions of baht, pay tax each year (many Thais don't), and generally help the economy big time.  Seems like we just don't count for anything - so why would more want to come here?

They must be earning $80,000 for the last two years or $40,000 a year. [...]

They must have qualifications of at least a bachelor's degree and five years experience [...]

They would be nomads in stock trading at companies making at least 50 million dollars per year over three years or they would be working for corporations that make at least one billion dollars a year.

That pretty much cancels out almost 100% of "digital nomads." I think they have the wrong definition of the term "digital nomad," and are thinking more of something closer to "international/distance employees."

(From my understanding of the term, "digital nomads" are usually freelancers, and don't work for companies/corporations. They usually have their own "company," sell products online,  have paying clients, etc. Their "company" probably doesn't each make 50 million-1 billion a year, but many easily have a higher salary than $40,000-80,000.)

What do you think.  It will be Ba Bye Bye or reup your money and buy your land again. It was only a lease.  LOS= Land of Stupid ideas.

The thing I don't see happening is "the right to buy land"     it was touted for the elite visa but soon dropped  PDQ same thing here I would say.

And I noticed that even if you buy land and a house and own it...the visa is only 10 years, so if your situation changes they could just tell you to get out of the country and leave you house and land behind.

Every well heeled foreigner dreams of coming to a junta led SE Asian country where in times of a pandemic they are placed alongside the homeless in terms of importance.

They can also be insulted by Anutin as part of the bargain. They can be called dirty and unwashed by a corrupt politician.

Then they can report every 90 days like a criminal on parole.

What a dream for the wealthy.

I've heard there there are loads of cheap properties in Monaco as the super rich sell up and flee in their droves to unvaccinated Thailand to be treated like shheeit.

This would be fantastic as long as they can apply it to historical purchases. I know plenty of people here with big rental property portfolio's. Fingers crossed.

This government would never grandfather us in. I mentioned it before on another op way back when and was ridiculed as wanting my cake and eating it to.....lol

in these no tourism times,  anything that gets media coverage is good for them,

to try and justify their wages .and budget ...Amazing Thailand.

Yup, we had an Op where many discussed such expenditures yearly not long ago and it turned into a sensitive subject where many called BS on others unless we posted proof.....

They come across as insecure and transparently unreliable. Business thrives on certainty for long term planning, and anyone reading this would know not to trust these smiling time-servers. For 1,900 baht I can renew my Non-O for a year, at least at the moment, that's all I can know, and enough for the moment.

I don't even know what to say.

Good luck, I guess.

Left or right? and after a night of drinking, you mean waking up in your hotel room with stitches in your back, a note on the desk with a bag of meds to take? The old shainghaied story....

But wait you get a land deed as well.

Why anyone would consider this, if he can get golden visa in Portugal with 350.000€ property investment and be able to apply for citizenship after 5 years?
