As far as I know numbers staying steady like this for weeks is as probable as a coin landing on its side. Usually either they go up or down but never stay flat.

If someone says the curve is going down it is just an illusion of scaling. A difference of a few hundred is nothing.

There are lots of countries where the number of infections remains in a stable range for weeks.

Thailand’s GDP is expected to expand by only 1.5-2.5% in 2021 with less than 4 million tourists. As a result, a Bt500billion loan is needed to help SMEs, provide relief funds & stimulate the economy, the finance minister said during the parliament debate on Wednesday.

----------------------------

The government already took out a Bt1 trillion loan, but they were unable to use it effectively. There were still shortages of hospital beds, ventilators and vaccines while SMEs still encounter problems to gain access to loan, said Yuttapong Charasathien, Pheu Thai MP

There's nowhere to even register in Phuket for foreigners, no app or website taking at risk group unless you have a work permit.

As for the covid numbers, over 70 clusters in 37 districts in Bangkok yet here we are with the same ball park figures, no sense whatsoever of the true situation.

Ohhh Plague Island. At least they should allow you to register for a cremation slot at your local temple.

Once the sandbox party kicks off, the un-vaccinated will be sitting ducks.

That would be nice. Pandemic over. May need to wait a little yet though. Look forward to more of your comments tomorrow.

Phuket seems to have stopped reporting any cases whether 1 or 0, have not seen a report including them in a few days, very strange.

Can't have the news of the virus there due to the tourism sandbox can we?

46 year old woman.  Questioned not asked or answered, was she using Birth control as that seems to be an issue, at least from this report from Italy.

Most patients infected by Delta variant in Udon Thani recover

Twelve of the 17 people in Thailand’s northeastern province of Udon Thani, who were found to be infected with the Delta, or Indian variant of COVID-19, have fully recovered and returned home, said Mr. Uthen Hakaew, deputy chief of the Udon Thani provincial health office, today (Wednesday).

Five are still being treated in hospitals, with two elderly patients on ventilators, two others being given oxygen and the fifth expected to be discharged tomorrow.

Those who were in close contact with the infected have been placed in 14-day quarantine, said Mr. Uthen, adding that provincial health officials are confident that the Delta variant infections are under control, as he urged members of the public not to panic.

Implied in these numbers is that there is no pro-active testing outside of clusters and prisons.

The numbers are too stable.

Ten people died in the Village next to me, per my Thai GF.

Those clusters didn't find themselves. The main cluster in the last wave was massive, and found very late during a non-lockdown period. I don't know how large these new clusters are, hard to draw any conclusions from cluster count alone.

Continuing from yesterday, if they seal an area, testing is useful to determine the cluster has resolved. If cases are going up though, what can they do with that information, seal the area more?

I almost think this vaccination chart is more important than the daily new infections one because vaccinations are the way out of the pandemic. I take it the 5M+ figure on the upper right is people who have received at least 1 shot...if so that's 8% or so of the population. That's pretty impressive as a week ago I was seeing figures of 1-2%.

Twenty-seven people have died among the 3.67 million who have received a dose of Covid-19 vaccine, but the government has found no indication of a link. So far 12 have been confirmed “coincidences”, and the remaining 15 are under investigation.

Samut Songkhram’s Mae Klong fish market will be closed from Thursday for three days after over 40 Covid-19 cases were found via proactive tests among 315 people. More than 1,600 other people at the market, including Thais and migrant workers, are currently undergoing tests.

Clusters never find themselves, what your point? Last year they were found through hospital walk in cases not pro active testing. That came after they were already identified.

If you really think the right thing to do is seal an area and not bother testing, instead wait for herd immunity then you've successfully justified yourself. Not me however:

"While the migrants in the camps languish locked up, with infected people among the uninfected allowing it to spread inside.

"Enforcing an abusive and discriminatory policy, Thai authorities put migrant workers affected by the COVID-19 outbreak in a ghetto, where infection spreads like wildfire in squalid conditions," said Sunai Phasuk, a senior researcher for Human Rights Watch in Thailand.

"Labour authorities are arresting workers instead of testing them, and we are concerned this will lead to workers hiding," said Adisorn Kerdmongkol, a coordinator at the Migrant Working Group (MWG), a network of non-governmental organisations."

https://news.trust.org/item/20210528152739-huym4/

My question is how many have died and are these in the official daily reported numbers of deaths or are they hidden? I would love to see a breakdown of nationalities in the daily death reports.
