Food Lineups in Pattaya

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Hundreds and maybe a thousand people lineup for free food on Pattaya Beach Sunday June 27, 2021. Thankfully, there are a few people sharing their wealth to feed the hungry people of Thailand. But are the super rich billionaire Thais of CP foods and Thaibev and MK restaurants and others providing any charity to their hungry fellow countrymen? None of them were found on Pattaya beach on Sunday helping to feed the hungry people.

Has nothing to do with "free market capitalism". It has everything to do with the culture and mindset of those participating in it.

Nothing different from all other countries across the planet.

Their skin color was light, and they were not Thai Chinese.

You misunderstand the nature of cut throat, neo-liberal, free market capitalism if you think that the super rich care about those that cannot add to their wealth...

Did they say that you had to be hungry and unable to feed yourself to partake?

Nope.

Many Thais are generous to a fault and will help those in need.

Neo liberal free market cut throat capitalists-nah, not so much...

Exactly, look at the one that paid 300 million baht, so the Euros could be shown live in Thailand ????

Interesting. Their place on 2nd Road, opposite Sohotown and next to all the Korean restaurants, has been cleared out and is up for rent.

The people looking for a hand out there ARE the people adding to their wealth for years already buying their goods . But now that they are in trouble they don't give a flying !@#$ anymore .

Food lines. Many individual businesses,  bars, clubs, restaurants,  some working together  feed thousands  as they did last year.

We call them free food kitchens. There are about  40 thousand in the  UK where all year round food poverty  is a serious  issue.

Are you certain this is a true act of charity in response to hard times, or is it part of a merit-making ritual ?

I ask this because I've seen things like this in other countries, e.g. in parts of Brazil there is a certain Catholic saint's feast day where everyone gets a free meal.  I have no idea who pays for it.

In the campaigns for elections in the US last year one (supposedly) wealthy candidate has been quoted

“maybe this Covid thing is a good thing [...] I don’t have to shake hands with these disgusting people.”
