Officials blame the elderly and the rain for chaos at Bang Sue vaccination center

The chief of the Department of Medical Services Somsak Akkhasin pointed to three problems causing traffic chaos and overcrowding at the Bang Sue Central Station vaccination center.

The station, barely opened yet, is serving as a major vax center for between 10,000 and 20,000 people a day.

But traffic in the last several days has been horrendous and there has been overcrowding meaning people were crammed together. Not what you want in a Covid crisis.

The three main difficulties were:

1. The over 75's who were being driven there in cars with relatives, often with more than one person tagging along per each person to be vaccinated.

2. The over 60's turning up without having registered on Mor Prom.

3. The rain.

Several measures have been put in place to alleviate the traffic and overcrowding including stopping registration for the over 60s who have not registered. The Over 75's are still able to arrive unregistered.

Tents have been set up outside by the state railways.

And the rain?

Well that stopped of its own accord, reported INN

If you organize something do it good, Not in the middle of an area, with a lot of traffic and no parking space..It is common in Thailand to have markets where nobody can park a car or bike and always traffic is disrupted. It are not the people it is the organisation

that is, probably, a medical doctor, who has so much compassion for his patients, that he blames them for wanting a medical treatment.

Oh my dog.

Love this place, never a day without laughter.

Yeah, it was the same at Wembley last night, all these over 75s pushing and shoving.

Well, at least he didn't include "brake failure" as a cause

It is the failure to supply vaccines earlier that is causing all the problems. Nothing more, nothing less. The blame sits squarely on the shoulders of Pinocchio and “I’ve had 2 jabs” Anutin

So the over 75's should make their own way to the station, either by private or public transportation, on their own without assistance from anyone as the that crowds the place.

Amazing Thailand.

Those pesky old people, something needs to be done about them. And then there's that rain stuff, most inconvenient  and most unusual in Thailand at this time of the year.  I can see why officialdom is grumpy about all these unforeseen and unknowable issues that scupper their plans.

Just about every vaccination centre in Thailand is a super spreader event, p!55 up & brewery come to mind, if you haven't got the virus yet just go to one of these places.

Bloody morons ????

As desperation increases the crowds are just getting too big and the minds of the organizers way to small. The organizers are creating super spreader hot spots which is like throwing fuel on the fire.

It would be far better to just go door to door and vaccinate at random while people are at home in lockdown. They could at least vaccinate the elderly and essential workers this way.

I think there's a breakdown in communication, you go to the vaccine centre to get a jab as a form of prevention?

You do not go to a vaccine centre to mix with vast numbers of untested people who may be spreading the virus!

The news hub of balls ups.

If it wasn't so laughable it would be sad.

What about this one.......?????

Sinovac is being abandoned.......everyone to get AZ even if your first jab(s?) is/was Sinovac.

Not to forget that Thais like to park / leave their car just where they like to. And if it's in the middle of the lane, they give a rat's rear about it.

I am sure it was just due to a misunderstanding...
