Prominent Thai doctor says lockdown measures aren’t working, tighter ones won’t work either, ease them to save the economy and consider an export ban on Covid19 vaccines and greatly boost vaccination program

He is making some sense - the leaky lockdown cannot work as the factories still operate as Covid manufacturing centres. A full lock down would curb the virus but a full lock down means closing the factories, stay in your homes etc. It would kill the Thai economy which is export based.

How about

1. Vaccinating the old/sick - significantly reduce the death rates so covid is less painful.

2. Get more vaccines from outside (not easy except for the useless CCP types)

3. In any event, once the old and sick are vaccinated, and deaths are lower - get rid of the leaky lock down which is causing suffering. Live with Covid as I do not see another option for Thailand thanks to the monumental vaccine screw up.

Not if the hospitals are full ...

And thinking about economy , it will be a bit more , but you can still forget tourism .

You need to go break the news to your mom and dad, aunts and uncles. Start planning those funerals.

Meanwhile tell your kids Grandma and Grampa are getting weeded out. Maybe you can get with Soylent Industries and make a few bucks.

I don't think it is all about the foreigners living here......the doc appears to be focusing on the local people. And can't you go a full day without bringing that fools name up!

Expats have been getting Pfizer jabs all week at MedPark. I'm leaving in a couple hours to get mine.

Now in Thailand, the numbers dying from Covid is pretty close to 1% of those testing positive. Rather far from the number you spout......and sometimes the strong are affected.

Would not have thought so before , but as time goes on I agree with this guy.

Look how opening up with unvaccinated is working in Florida, Texas and other red states. Difference is in Thailand folks aren't going to turn down getting jabbed. We just need to focus on the supply side.

And in Australia the  presence of  two  new cases  prompts a shut down in Canberra and immediately MP's  head for the airport to  go home?

That is really <deleted> up...And it's happening in a western country.

Oh they are all nuts over there......little chance of following suit.

Thanks, not thrilled with the prospect of getting infected in the crowd same day I get jabbed but it will be a real relief once that needle goes in my arm.

So he is saying we need good vaccines and lockdowns will not work and we have 100 days to make this work. Why don't he just say we need the millions of vaccines that were promised to us here right now. And where did the 1.5 million Pfizer vaccines go?

He didn't claim to be trying to "ease infection rates". Don't you agree with him that getting more vaccines is more important than ineffective lockdowns?

I like how you criticize what he says without making any alternative suggestion of your own.

Fact, opening up will cause more infections, hospitalizations and death. Dr. Deaths' plan just sends added people who become infected home every evening compounding the problem and prolonging the time the economy remains tanked. Increasing vaccinations, well there the good doctor has a firm grasp of the obvious.

again, one doctor on Facebook.

Newsworthy? Meh.

Seen better headlines though.

Lockdowns don't work for delta variant.  It's debatable if face masks do much either.  Time to learn to just live with it instead of these on again off again restrictions going on forever.

Time to learn to just live with it

Ultimate Catch-22, learning to live with something that's going to kill you.

More Covid-19 infections and fatalities from the Delta mutant will be increased in Thailand if there is no proper vaccine allocation in the next 100 days, a Pulmonary disease specialist of Vichaiyut Hospital stated online today, August 12th

We're stuffed then, Thailand has got all the allocation Prayut & Anutin deemed necessary.

They cannot ban an export of something they don't won... presuming the doctor was talking about the AZ vaccine.

I am afraid they don't have other choice than lockdown...Massive and free testing could be a an alternative(cheaper, on the long run), along with citizens following the rules, but they don't have the testing capacity(I assume or do they?) and I don't know how much thais are abiding current advices regarding corona.

The current measures are only hurting the economy and the people and not stopping the spread of Covid-19. Vaccines are the answer here not tighter restrictions, curfews, and lockdowns.

Vaccines are the answer... but Thailand doesn't have any.

All they have is the pitiful supply Prayut & Anutin allowed. any private enterprise that tried to procure more were blocked by them.

Now they are sinking in their own mire.

I just hope someone will eventually  provide a single explanative word for the >>>> being distributed to the world.

I saw this news and thought how crazy is that 400,000 lockdown  for 2 cases found Oz like Thailand has no coherent vaccination programme.

FINALLY! Now Do It!

Lift And Let Live.

Since even fully vaccinated can/do get infected and spread covid...sooner or later everyone will get it, lockdown or not, vaccination or not.

Sure, some old ones will likely be lost, some otherwise critically ill will be lost...

I know it isn't popular with the generally older farang crowd,

But if there is a choice to save ( mostly temporarily) 1% or have 99% go on with their life as regular...

Then picking the 99% makes more sense.

Sorry, but that is the brutal truth.

If one group accounts for over 90% of hospitalizations and deaths were should the focus be? Immunize that group and Covid is no longer a headline. Break through infections are so rare and add less than .0002 to hospitalizations and even less to deaths. Not a statistical factor. Do you actually believe inoculating the 10% least affected with 5X as many people using up 5X as much vaccine taking 5X as much time to save far fewer lives while keeping hospitals full of 60+ and the risk factored folks. That sounds like a great idea???????

at last someone makes sense.

the right way to go is the mexican way.

mexico NEVER locked down anything, airports allways stayed 100% open.

accept the death toll and save the economy= more lives !!

Mexican way, jaja, you obviously have never been there.

Every human on this planet will eventually be infected with COVID19.  That is inevitable. Whether that is from within a household or out.

But, overwhelmingly those vaccinated will suffer only mild flu-like symptoms.  Unvaccinated will usually moderate to suffer severe flu-like symptoms accompanied by respiratory infections and risk death.

The doctor is right about the devastation being caused.

As long as we are unvaccinated, then those of us with health conditions are sitting ducks and play the COVID life/death lottery, albeit better odds we are not killed by it.

the number of domestic infections and deaths from the Covid-19’s Delta mutant will continue to increase regardless of how intense the lockdown measures are.

Maybe try enforcing the measure that are already in place?

Seems lots of people are still travelling around.

The status read: People’s homes have become the place where high infections occurred overall, so some lockdown measures should be relaxed immediately

And how will that ease infection rates?

How about quoting it properly instead of cherry picking the words.

'People’s homes have become the place where high infections occurred overall, so some lockdown measures should be relaxed immediately before the Thai economy became even worse'.

Finally some common sense! It’s been a year and a half. Everyone knows how to protect themselves. Open up the economy and give people a chance to live

Latest reports are that it is now 45 mins to get vaccinated at MedPark, I read things have improved greatly from the 2 1/2 hrs and overcrowding suffered on the 10th .
