Cannot keep locking down, what is left when all the lockdowns finish?  nothing to start from, just live with it

Get most people vaccinated first. We wouldn't be in this mess if Thailand's program hadn't been so SLOW. Plus using so much of the weak brand -- Sinovac.

Inter provincial travel restrictions?I see check points but that"s it.

Last week a guest house in Hua-hin was still inviting people from Bangkok to come and stay there

and this was on Facebook.

A lot of talk but again,no enforcement.

A further lock down would mean more police on the streets of Bangkok,if you know what i mean.

Yes the whole world know's what you mean,????

I believe the current Delta surge in America is an example of how quickly unvaccinated people are contracting the Delta variant.  I believe, based on the predominant types of vaccines being applied, we are in for a very rough and dangerous ride.

Yes, Delta is spreading like crazy in the States. People are underestimating this variant.  I'm also concerned that with the continuing mutation of the virus, the next variant could be even worse.

the general public is doing the best they can.

No, they're not. Not even close.

Not enough wearing masks consistently. Not honoring social distancing. Businesses not complying with the non-lockdown restrictions.

It's no wonder the deaths and cases keep rising. Not enough vaccinations. And not enough changes in public behavior to limit the spread of the virus.

He says the lockdown has been 20% effective. What does that even mean? I can't figure out how you would measure such a thing. Apart from whether it's true or not, to put a number on it...just pulled out of the air? If infections went down 20% after lockdown, I could understand 20% effective. Otherwise, what the heck is he measuring? He got funky ruler.

Yes it could but better deal with the current crisis for now and prepare for the next one. Too much to ask? Definitely.

The current restrictions in place include the closure of restaurants and non-essential businesses, interprovincial travel restrictions and a night time curfew.

Better to be honest about it:

The current restrictions in place include interprovincial travel restrictions and a night time curfew, neither of which is being enforced by the police.

Look at Israel (or Malta, or UAE etc.)

Massive (and early) vaccination program (started december 19) with Pfizer.

ISRAEL3.png.a922c86b224bdbfa6fc6cbbc61234b3a.png

The idea that "vaccine = end of the problem = going back to normal" is deeply flawed.

Confronted to thoses facts (the vaccine do not prevent transmission and contamination, the herd immunity with a virus that mutates/recombines a lot and that has animal reservoirs is a fiction) countries start to think "differently" like Iceland or the UK... The virus will always be there, it's okay.

But I'm very concerned about Thailand... i'm not sure they can think out of the box... The "zero Covid" ideology is very strong in Asia and South-East Asia.

Add to this... the tense political situation (factorized by the economic and social situation)...

That's not a good cocktail recipe...

If you’ve been vaccinated you won’t die , Right….maybe with Chinese river water vaccine

and always urging people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.. But there are no vaccines available only Sinovac which is proven many times it is not effective and other vaccines are in the country not available.. Mor Prom doesn't work and I know from several people that they are waiting already for more than 4 months without any possibility to get an appointment, But on the other hand we also heard that friends of people in hospital are being vaccinated without any appointment.. There is some work to do....

Interesting I am under 60 and got my 1st vaccine shot. Ooops it was Astra Zeneca. Wonder how that happened? I guess I must of paid tea money or know someone working in a hospital. Well, to answer these questions, it’s no. I was just determined to get my vaccine so I registered in as many places as I could. It was also free too. So stop your whining and complaining and think about what would happen if you put the same effort into getting your vaccine as you did complaining and posting in anonymous forums about how bad the place you live in is. If you don’t like it here, it’s an easy problem to solve. Many others have gone back home for their vaccine and you can also choose that path. However, not me. I chose to live here and now I’m doing my best to adapt to Thailand’s systems, culture, and ideals.

Mass vaccination is super spreader events

I wonder if Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin's income is dependent on money coming into and moving around the country?

I guess not.

Many people are so very tired of all this and want restrictions to be eased... and the focus on vaccine rollout instead of the waffle and lies that we've been getting from the start,

The lockdowns cause more harm than good and don't even seem to be effective. The virus is not going to disappear anywhere, but the longer they keep restricting business openings (etc.) the more people will suffer. It's total madness for a virus with a less than 1% death rate - which is mostly among the risk groups (who of course, should be offered the best help possible to allow isolation and medical care). I would estimate most socially active people will eventually get some variant of the virus - hopefully after being vaccinated.

Dead because of what reason? Are you not living in Thailand now ? Why would you post in here then? Or will I be dead due to choice of vaccine. Are you one of those anti vaccine guys? You must have too much time on your hands then. Well to each their own then. Good luck

Semi lockdowns seem to work when testing is decreased.  Antigen Test Kits also reduce the number of reported cases unless retested with a PCR swab. If they wanted the numbers to decrease they would need to have a rigid lockdown, but then what do they really want.  The public seems a little frantic right now which can be seen with the mass numbers queuing to be tested or waiting on a vaccine.

I was thinking maybe underground and at least 6ft apart with 3 masks on.

What is the process now ? Can Thai test for free at home and when somebody tests positive he can just lock himself at home ?

Do you know what happens FOR REAL ? not in the BS news posted everywhere by people who understand and know nothing ?

thank you.

When will the PM and Hi-so's realise that they need to chip in and order like 100 miliion vacccines so they can innoculate everyone in the country so that will have workers, maids, construction, sales girls, military and others so that the country can return to normal and tourism can return. Cost them in short run but beneficial in long run.

Lift and Let Live!

(or at least open the freaking swimming pools!)

Of course they won't. Nobody thought this would end in 2 weeks. They just put it out there as a possibility to prevent a revolt and fool the masses. Then let the fear frenzy campaign continue until 2 weeks is up and then they can spout off again...we need another 2 weeks.

Been going on for a year and half already and many here still drinking their ???????? kool-aid! ????

Yes, Delta + closely followed by Delta Pro, will be much worse. Be very afraid.

I think it goes without saying that they will extend what we have until the end of August.

I don't like it, or really agree with it, but I understand it.

But to commit to extending it into September needs to wait at least 10 more days!

If you watch TV and read the newspapers, you live in a crisis

If not, it's Sunday

(apart from the nonsensical restrictions)

If you want to know the correct course of action, ask the COVID Czar Prayut and his sidekick Anutin. Whatever they suggest, do the exact opposite.

Fear Porn for the masses.

On the plus side they did have a blow-out vaccination day i the previous reporting period...

683,832  which may be a daily record?

Book-ended by 219,840 and 284,378 so maybe not an indicator of much?

Been doing just that...regarding these ridiculous restrictions all year.
