“She came to Denmark at the end of 2018 on a 15-days tourist visa. She has been here ever since without legal permission,” The prosecutor for the district police, Niclas Nissen, says.

Thereby teaching others that breaking immigration and (I presume) labor laws there will just get you deported (and no other penalty?) ... almost makes it worth a try.

"She had for some time wanted to leave herself but she didn’t have the money for the ticket back to Thailand."

Does this mean she was given an airplane ticket to return to Thailand?

Denmark is a nice country, we pay for the expenses to deport the offenders.

And from the headline, I thought there were a few of them, not only one WOMAN.

She also might not have to repay any remaining "debts" she still owes to the traffickers in Denmark who brought her to the massage parlor and most likely held on to her passport which also could be attributing to her happiness.

Don't all countries do this? How else can you force somebody to leave? "Yes you must leave the country now, please purchase a plane ticket at your convenience..."?

Danish prisons for women are more like cheap hotels in Thailand, not much of a punishment. They should follow what Thai immigration does- leave her there until she pays her own fare back home. The woman is another beneficiary of soft treatment that will not deter future over stayers.

I don't know about you, but I certainly don't think that 'massaging' old Danish men an easy way to get deported.

Welcome to the danish way of thinking.Denmark, always numero uno, the pinnacle of human achievement.

They pay actually lot more.Lately, they didn't want some of the afghans, who worked for/with the Danish Army (which, of course, is the best in the world) and payed the brits to take them.

Not everyone is welcomed in the world's happiest nation.

if it's like a cheap hotel, leaving her there  longer would be even more of a reward then,, in fact many would want to solve their housing issues by turning themselves in after a sufficient overstay time. LOL

Danish prisons are a walk in a park ( not that she deserves it as being banned from entering Schengen and most certainly the rest of Europe is bad enough )

Quite a nice point of view and I admit that it did not spring to mind. Thanks

As for the lady, I feel for her.

For a thai, is very difficult to adapt in a cold, unfriendly and dark country as Denmark.

Even worse, if she was living in a Jutland. That place is a <deleted>hole.

It's better than Finland, where I saw many unhappy Thais.

Blueberries are cheap though.
