Popular Post bbabythai
Once a month I stay in a holiday rental high rise condo building. It has a long/ wide pool for everyone to enjoy. The other day I arrived, stripped off down to my board shorts and jumped in. Noticed an old guy watching me. He got out of the pool after a few minutes and walked over to me. Using a polite tone he asked if I could next time take a shower before getting in the pool. He said 'everyone needs to do it'. I nodded my head. I suppose he is correct as Thailand is a hot country- we all have sweating bodies. He wasn't acting like a xxxx head or anything. Afterwards I thought I will do it as its more hygienic for everyone. I think he assumes that no one takes a shower up in their condo prior to heading to the pool. Thought I would see what everyone else does at their own condo. How would you react if a stranger approached you and asked you to comply with the rules of the pool..... Does a little bit of sweat on a human body mixed up with thousands of litres of chlorinated water bother you?

Popular Post TimBKK
Always, rude not to IMO. I have no problem if I didn’t but was asked to in a kind or respectful manner. 11
Popular Post EVENKEEL
Yeah, it's a common courtesy to shower first. Pretty much a common rule most places. 12 1
Popular Post observer90210
In any seriously managed pool, even in the west, one must shower and mainly pass through a mycose desinfection solution to gain acess to the pool. Plainly a matter of hygiene and respect to enter more or less washed.
Popular Post The Hammer2021
It's standard throughout the world to shower before and after. There is usually a sign reminding people to shower.
Popular Post phetphet
Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don't. Our pool is right outside my door. If I showered, haven't been out and am sitting with the air con on, sometimes I will just get changed and jump in. If I come home sweaty and fancy a swim to cool down, I will shower before jumping in. I was also told it is a good idea to shower and rinse gear after swimming as the chlorine rots both textiles and swimming goggles. Popular Post 4MyEgo
I don't live in a condo, but when I stay at a hotel or go to a waterpark with the kids, I always shower beforehand, then once in the water I pee, is that ok. Just taking the pi$$...... Edited October 1, 2021 by 4MyEgo

Popular Post HeijoshinCool
. When we were kids, we once went to the supermarket to buy something to take to the pool, just for laughs..... That yellow food dye we opened in our pockets, while throwing our heads back and sighing loudly, got us immediately kicked out, but the looks on the faces of everyone was a Kodak moment. 1
zzaa09
I don't have a condo, therefore no condo pool. Yet, I do have a sizeable country pond on the property, in which I faithfully shower before taking a dip. One can never be too careful.
Popular Post EricTh
I go into swimming pools quite often. I notice that almost all Thai will take a short shower just before going into the pool, the ones that don't are usually foreigners from certain countries. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. In this case, when in Thailand, do as the Thais do Edited October 1, 2021 by EricTh

frantick
It's stupid. Tap water running down your body cleans nothing. Never understood it. Chlorine, or salt - induced chlorine will kill any "icky" stuff coming off your body. 1

They go into the cubicle, turn the water on and walk straight out again. Often the water not even touching them. Filthy pigs. Usually the older types, but sometimes the odd Asian woman...and the children...if they can get away with it.

Just take a shower...

Popular Post MrJ2U
Its better to follow the rules and shower. We have a shower by our pool at home. Sweaty , dusty, dirty bodies actually reduce the chlorines effectiveness. Enough of you filthy falangs jumping in without showering will reduce the purity of the pool water. Showering before swimming helps keep swimming healthy for everyone in the pool. https://www.manassasparkcommunitycenter.com/why-youre-supposed-to-shower-before-and-after-swimming-by-sarah-barnett/
ColeBOzbourne
I like to sit in the pool when eating watermelon. That way the juice all over my face and running down my chest is not a bother.

Skeptic7
I do it cuz it's the rule and everyone else here does. No big deal and sets a good, clean example. However I'm probably not engaging a total stranger and telling them what to do.
Pravda
My condo building has 2 pools. One on the bottom floor with hot/cold water showers in the toilet and rooftop with outside shower next to the pool. I always use the pool downstairs because I hate showering with cold water. I will go upstairs only if I'm alone with wife and no I won't shower. I don't pee in the pool which is certainly more gross
JAS21
Our village has a quite large saltwater pool…and yes everyone showers before entering the water. Also ALL have to wear a swimming hat, even those like me who don’t have any hair…
