So I guess Thailand’s system would be based on the same logic, but I don’t know for sure.

That will probably be correct.  In March 2020 I travelled to Vietnam from Thailand and I was asked the same questions on departure at both ends - have you been in China or Italy in the last 10 days? Nothing's guaranteed with this lot in control though - hopefully the details will be released before 1 November.

Get rid of COE, it contains too many stuff especially the insurance. It is a big headache.

When they get rid of all the Hoops like the COE I will book Maybe if I am lucky I can go at the end Nov the beginning of dec - Not looking forward to 24 hour plane ride in a mask I love going to Bangkok but I am not going to jump through hoops, getting there is already bad enough. I am wondering how high they are going to jack up prices - will they try to make up for 2 years in a single trip

China, irrelevant.

Other countries?

Only Germany has a relatively low incidence.

With 114.137 new cases the last 2 weeks Germany is far down the list - ranked 129 ....

As usual, scant on details.

Its right there, Prayut has asked the Ministry of Public Health to consider openingnon 1st November.

Definition of low risk countries: Large population, history of tourists visiting Thailand, and money to spend.! Definition of high risk country only 32% of population vaccinated.

"Last night, the prime minister addressed the nation saying he will “consider” opening the country to vaccinated tourists from low-risk countries from 1st November, and re-open bars and pubs from 1st December."

I actually have insurance with Blue Cross, Blue Shield that covers me in Thailand, and my CoE was initially rejected because the Letter I had did not say "$100 k coverage" I shot back to them, "It says Unlimited coverage, surely Unlimited is better than $100K

They finally relented, but the COE was not a pleasant experience though it was not very difficult. But difficult enough to discourage casual tourists

I also feel bad for all these people working at the embassies. They must be working their ass off with all these requests, and trying to keep up with all the daily changes.

I agree that allowing in fully vaccinated travelers is likely very low risk, and there should be the minimal bureaucracy to facilitate this. Many people need to travel for reasons other than tourism eg family visits and business travel.

Opening up entertainment (and bars!) while the schools are still not fully open is just barmy. Get the bulk of the population (incl older kids) vaccinated, then fully open schools and universities, then wait to see what happens with case levels and healthcare capacity.

Only when the situation seems to be under reasonable control should they consider opening the nightlife. It would be just plain wrong to make kids suffer again because of a push by interest groups to open up the nightlife.

It's even made the BBC news...I especially like this part

"Mr Prayuth said Thailand would also allow entertainment venues to reopen on 1 December and permit alcohol sales"

Me think that the all what the PM had in his mind is not the most vaxed countries but where the most tourists will likely to come from as some of the countries he cited are still deep in the grip of the Corona..

what ????

it won't make one bit of difference - there is enough covid already in Thailand how on earth are a few thousand fully vaccinated tourists going to suddenly increase covid in Thailand - more stupid nonsense

At last somethings moving, Devil will be in the details.

R China and India on the list?

Yes, that should be the title of the thread, and the announcement.

Otherwise its just more of the same rubbish, may happen, yet to be approved etc

So does this mean there will only be a requirement to show negative tests and COVID vaccination, with the COE process being dropped?

I'd be very surprised if the requirement for a Thai covid insurance policy went away.

But if there is an unexpected emergence of a highly dangerous new variant of the virus in the months ahead, Thailand will act accordingly, Prayuth said.

sounds to me like blame the foreigners for any future covid issues - back to that again are we - it's not our fault it was the dirty farangs

They seem to want everyone to buy the Thai covid insurance policies.

The risk is fully vaccinated tourists mingling with part-vaccinated locals.

This is no different to the "proposal" I currently have for a threesome with my girlfriend and her sister, its a proposal, its yet to be approved, the details are not clear, and one of the parties involved will probably end up saying No.

Thailand also plans to allow resumption of alcohol sales at restaurants and to reopen entertainment venues by Dec. 1,

Do it now... you say the millions who cannot afford to miss another season will suffer if you don't allow entertainment venues to open.

Well at least some positive news I am looking forward to travelling to Bangkok in December sort my hospital appointment  out

Plus enjoy a few nights out in Restaurants serving alcohol ????

IMO they should want tourists to come here. At least that's what they say every day.

Why would you require Cocid insurance from someone who is fully vaccinated, has a very small chance of being infected, and even if infected has an even smaller chance of getting sick.  I remember looking at the covid statistics last week, About 10,000 infections in Thailand, about 20 coming in from other countries.

To the best of my knowledge China is still closed to entry by non-Chinese and mandates a 21 day quarantine for all upon entry.  How will Chinese tourists return home?

China is unlikely to open up until after the Beijing Winter Olympics have finished in late February; there is too much face to be lost in having to cancel/postpone.

Millions of infected Thais are mingling with part vaccinated locals all day long. , a few more  fully vaccinated tourist are not going to significantly increase the risk. IMO

So the UK is low risk with 40K Cases a day.... ah yes ..but ..I hear you say...but as my kid said to me ... don't fly via Heathrow ... I says don't worry ... I wouldn't ... not on yer Nelly.

Visitors from at least 10 countries including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Germany, China and the United States will be exempted from quarantine on arrival

If China qualified, wonder why Australia did not make the list.

Both countries may not be letting their citizens leave homeland for at least another 9 months
