Andrew Brocalli is worth a look , possibly with Sarah Brightman , but surely not a Thai thing .

As for that Lisa , yep , ok for now .

  • "million tourists spending". As For Lalisa, are 14 year olds the target demographic for Thai tourism?

  • I am not sure the many, many citizens struggling financially due to Covid will agree ! Pathetic.

  • Fantasies are nice. One million will come to watch someone I never heard about. Think Mr Adit has a secret crush.

I don’t know if some of you naysayers realize what a money machine this young lady is. People need a little relief from this COVID hysteria and this girl is wildly popular among all social classes. If it generates revenue, everybody benefits, even the little guy. Give it a rest!

I think I'm in a "social class" and I never heard of her, so why would I travel to Thailand to see her? The OP is about attracting foreigners, IMO, not locals.

The Four Horsemen are saddling up, and with the advent and popularity of that hopelessly banal medium and Chinese trojan horse aimed at sapping the drive of the world's youth---TikTok----the locusts are beginning to swarm. Soon the seas will be on fire. Heck, we already have the plague.

Sure, every generation has had its share of throwaway 'talent', but even the Monkees eventually learned how to play instruments. K-Pop stars seem to hit a wall where they realize they are actually talentless and on the verge of becoming stale bread, and the result tends to be self-destruction---literally.

Life seems to be imitating art in an odd way. Entertainment is becoming a kind of Socialism where almost all are equal. Kurt Vonnegut, Jr wrote a tale about a time when nobody is allowed to outshine anyone else, and the public loves it. In the tale, a skilled ballet dancer is made to wear 50 kg of buckshot on his back so that he stumbles and falls down, just as one with zero talent would do.  The audience feels better about itself.

i think that is the ultimate goal of all these manufactured stars: You, too, could be this Lisa if you just have some surgery and let the computers give you a voice.

(Just having fun here...kids can watch whatever makes them happy.....while I can listen to Brahm's First or Michael Hedges playing Ritual Dance or the Grateful Dead playing Friend of the Devil and feel myself superior---ha!)

Rap and opera what a great combination for a new years party.

I 100% agree that it should have been spend better, and that its will puff up those in charge. IMHO it does not has to have these kinds of stars. I think its crazy to pay that much (not sure what these people make and so on).

Just pointed out that its hard to spend outside what is has been earmarked to do. But I agree could have been better. Loans to those who can't open and stuff like that make much more sense. (but TAT is not setup for that). I would say better infra structure and easier available data would be good too.

My point was more that many people don't seem to understand that money cant be just spend as they wish. That there are rules just like in any other country.

Well yes, although in Thailand the approach to such rules does seem to be marked by "creative accounting", a lax interpretation of the rules themselves, and in some, by no means rare cases, a complete lack of transparency. It seems often to be the case that once a budget is allocated the money is used pretty much as the budget holder sees fit, and some blatant abuses and mis-spending go unchallenged.

Get Carabao and some great female mullam artists and send the rest of the money to Thai orphanages desperate for money. Baan Jing Jai and TakeCareKids in Pattaya for example.

Carabao is a yellow shirt and called the PM is 'brother' so he's out. Morlam is not as popular as luktung so somebody like lamyai, Takkedan or Tai would be good. I agree on the orphanages been to fund raising concerts at them.

Which Gogo bar Will she be appearing at and the bar fine ?

I just don’t see her attracting their estimate (1 million foreign tourists) to a single event given the difficulty of foreign travel and poor economic recovery…

Would not her audience be teenagers and young adults? Those are not financially wealthy groups to travel let alone foreign travel….

could see her attracting the young domestic Thai population but that is not adding $$$$ to the economy via travel/spending money

Absolute waste of money, should be used to provide food for those people in need! Nobody outside of Thailand will watch it, they have much better entertainment available???????? Where do they get these numbers from? Should drug test those idiots????????????

You have to leave your 60's and 70's music behind grandad, she got over 70 million views on her recent single within 24 hours, that is not just kids in Asia, I did not describe her as a rap artist, she's better than that.

Why should we have to leave the 60s and 70s music behind? Quite a lot of the artists from that era are still around and making music.

Who will remember BlackPink in 10 years time?

Millions of foreigners don't come to see Lisa, because she is unknown

Ridiculous - you are just a typical old man making a typical old man comment.  She is genuinely world famous (just not to grumpy old men on TVF).  She was on the Jimmy Fallon show a few weeks back.  Blackpink performed a sell out world tour before Covid, they played twice at Coachella.    Their UK debut at Wembley Arena sold out in under three hours.  To say she is unknown is plainly ridiculous.

And yes, she is talented.

yeah  will they be playing her "music"  in 2-3  years  let  alone 50,  just  another talentless  "artist"

And the award for most "old man" comment of 2021 goes to......

Is that like just over aud 8 million dollars? Is that for the whole thing or do two artists really get paid this exorbitant amount for a couple of shows?  If they do it is a travesty of everything good and fair.

Where are they going to find a venue that will hold these one million tourists coming to see lisa plus the locals on top of that????????

Just how are 1 M. going to get to Pattaya?  Or even through Swampy?  Unless all quarantine and PCR testing is to be abandoned for the event, many millions more spent of charter flights to U-Tapao airport...

Total fantasy; stupid even for TAT

Suppose Lisa’s appearance attracts a million foreign tourists into Thailand and each of them spends an average of 75,000 baht, this will translate into 75 billion baht in foreign exchange,” said Adit,

This man was surely a classmate of the Director of TAT....

She is definately not talentless, she is an excellant dancer , rapper, singer and may go on to act. Very beautiful young lady who speaks 4 languages. The problem is  few travel thousands of miles to see a star perform . That's why they have tours to visit different cities to meet their fans not visit one city and expect all their fans to fly to visit them. And if they still are banning liquor and entertainment venues no one are going to waste their time or money on one show and then can't party in other places for their vacation.

It must be a typo, 200, 000,000 baht= 63 million $ for what ???.

All the guys here who find it necessary to come to their rescue and tell you how wonderfully talented they are.  I wonder if they watch them with the volume on or off ????

dont like the songs of the young.

speak for yourself, If  its a good  tune I  like it, this  is NOT a good  tune they are talentless  tripe, lets  see  how many groups of the future  will be sampling this as   most of them couldnt write anything at  all these  days but  are  happy  to sample older  hits. Reminds me of the new  James  Bond film, thats  junk too, they have to use 50  year  old  ALL  the Time in the World  music to  perk it  up to anything half  decent

I don't do opera, so I've never heard of the Italian, but Lisa is pretty, and she works hard. ฿100 million baht is only (approximately) $3 million, not bad for the bush leagues, but she's gotta grab it while she can. I don't think her dancing is very interesting, but I'm not in her target demographic.

Having watched the video I am confused. I must have missed the bit where talent came into it, OK she looks good but I have seen far better pole dancers In BKK years ago.

If you were around at the time Queen did some superb concerts in the 70s and 80s until Freddie Mercury died in 1991 and John Deacon retired in 1997.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Queen_live_performances

Overall Queen played to approximately 700,000 people in the space of just 13 concerts with the show at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil setting the world record for the biggest paying audience at 250,000 people. As a point of note, football star Diego Maradona appeared on stage with the band in Argentina.

When Lisa and BlackPink can play to live audiences of that size then they maybe worth listening to. I have no doubt that in S Korea the next artists are being trained up.

Honestly, very reasonable.

The problem is if theres another wave.

I'm sure theres "No Refunds" clause in there contracts.

Kind of like anything you buy in Thailand.

I rate them as  bad  a s  rap and punk music , of the 70s god  that was  tripe too

So its NOTHING to do with music  then just "appearance:"  yeah thats sums  it  all  up,  looks  over   substance
