The reminder issued by the Ministry of Public Health.

By The Phuket News

PHUKET: The Ministry of Public Health has issued a reminder that the sale of alcohol is banned throughout the country today (Oct 21) as the nation observes the Wan Org Pansa Buddhist holy day.

The alcohol ban came into effect just after midnight last night (00:01am Thursday, Oct 21) and will conclude at midnight tonight.

The reminder, issued by the Office of Disease Prevention and Control yesterday, urges people to be mindful of the occasion, to take care of themselves through exercise and eating a diet including the five main food groups, to be motivated to abstain from alcohol for reasons such as “for the family”, and to observe COVID-19 new normal protocols.

Will this mean the bars are closed?

Yes, even in Phuket. For the rest the question sounds sarcastic

But drugs and other debauchery is readily available if so inclined,  brought to you mainly by the upholders of morality in LOS.

no alcohol isn't any problem

because it isn't happening - presumably the local mom and pops are not "that" kind of Buddhists.

So the Burmese/Myanmarese, Laotians and Cambodians are lesser Buddhists - it seems - as they have no such alcohol ban.

Only Thailand, where it serves purely to execute power over the underlings ........

Best post this week.

Where? What are you talking about? Thailand is a rubbish place for drug fun. It's really strict. Nothing like Europe or civilized places

Well, I wouldn't really know, but from what I hear seems it is easily procured - however will leave it to the experts such as yourself to keep me informed.

I asked this question before: Is it OK to buy alcohol free [eg. heinekin 0.00 alcohol]beer?

You can try buying it. Don't be surprised to see very confused faces, if outside the Mom&Pop shops.

Load of bullocks. Yesterday, everyone in the village hall, nissed as pewts. Today, back from Temple, same. Tonight, wifey has gone to the local bottle shop, 'to pay bill from yesterday '. She'll be back around 8pm, drunk...

What alcohol ban? It just seems to encourage them more around here.

As a general rule, few pay attention to any/every alcohol restrictions - however they surface.

Been of this nature for ages.

I was talking to the Mrs about this.... we didn't think there was a no-alcohol day at the end of Buddhist Lent.

Brought 6 beers yesterday 4.30pm from Ma & Pa but declined there Lethal Lao khao or their underground lottery tickets.
