are any of them being allowed to open ?

Not yet, but the discussion was soi 6 which of course remains closed in Pattaya. My point is only that whatever is in Pattaya, one finds a plenty in Bangkok.....but Pattaya generates all the negativity.

what a complete pile of delusional nonsense

and there is no such a thing as "NEW NORMAL" .................. Thailand is either a free country or heading towards a country of dictatorship and draconian laws inhibiting freedoms - this is very dangerous talk and is giving a hint of what this man is thinking - this is what his so called "NEW NORMAL" actually means - it's a nice set of words to describe something very much more sinister

anyone that has a business that doesn't fit the sinister so called "Amazing New Chapters" can forget about it if this man has his way, one very obvious clue is the current attitude towards pubs bars nightclubs gogo bars etc - they are using covid in an effort to destroy those businesses

Pubs , nightclubs , gogo bars etc have given Thailand a bad image . I agree it is time to change .

Just one side effect is   the amount of orphans created in Thailand . Not forgetting the road carnage , brawling ,ending up with hospitalisation or the morgue .

Not everybody's idea of a holiday.

"The TAT anticipates that tourism businesses will need to change their business models to better focus on quality, rather than the number of tourists, as well as diversifying their target audiences to include both long-distance markets such as European countries and the Americas, as well as short-distance markets such as Asian and ASEAN countries so that they do not have to rely solely on a single market."

Looks like they will try to shift from asian, chinese zero package tours, to westerners coming for longer holidays.

By now they know, that chinese wan't be coming for another year, or more (depending in epidemiological situation in china itself).

Covid restrictions will stay for another year, tourists do prefer short distance trips within safety of europe or within the USA.

They don't want risk of getting back to their homes.

The only coming would be expats, pensioners coming for long stays during winter months, digital nomads staying for as long as visa allows them (so not that long).

In the meantime thai tourist infrastructure is disintegrating.

Hence there won't be mass tourism for many years and will need large investment to revive it.

That perspective TAT should see by now, but try to cling to their useless jobs and keeping their offices throughout the world

gogo's and the sex industry in general including ST bars etc (soi 6 pattaya) are not part of Prauths plan, if you have a business in that sector I think you are going to have a problem, personally speaking I wouldn't care much in they bulldozed soi 6 pattaya and revoked the licence of every gogo bar and seedy joint in Thailand - they need to make their intentions clear instead of all this new normal ##, either have the dump or get off the pot

How much clearer can they make it for you? Or are you of the opinion that this is the kind of tourist that Thailand is after?

At the moment it's busy transforming itself into a boring bar-free and fun-free destination, is that the long-term plan?

I genuinely believe that is the route being taken.

Slow, but sure transformation away from the image they detest, party capital of the planet, to a wholesome, family-friendly holiday location for teetotal  millionaires.

I was making it clear for people like you who might not quite get the direction they are heading - New Normal sounds lovely but they are about to foolishly destroy 30 years of tourism and replace it with what ?, as already pointed out by another poster - the place is a filthy dump and until they fix that their aspirations of elevation to luxury are complete garbage

What the <deleted> does that mean?

It means they want 1m tourists spending 10m each rather than 10m spending 1m each.
