Clearly they just don't have enough consultants and idea people, as the need to announce newer and ever better buzzwords, plus delivering more meaningless prattle and pie-in-the-sky delusion is endless.

 

They also need to open a Thesaurus and find replacements for such tired words and phrases as 'quality' and 'new normal'.

 

Oh, and they don't seem to know they are two generations behind in their exhaustive use of "Amazing", apparently unaware that the term long ago was replaced first by 'Awesome' and then 'Epic'. Time Thailand got ahead of the curve. Let me suggest 'Stupefying' Thailand, as just a slight error or two in spelling could tell it like it really is coming from the current 'leadership' (sic).

Not yet, but the discussion was soi 6 which of course remains closed in Pattaya. My point is only that whatever is in Pattaya, one finds a plenty in Bangkok.....but Pattaya generates all the negativity.

Pubs , nightclubs , gogo bars etc have given Thailand a bad image . I agree it is time to change .

Looks like they will try to shift from asian, chinese zero package tours, to westerners coming for longer holidays.

By now they know, that chinese wan't be coming for another year, or more (depending in epidemiological situation in china itself).

Covid restrictions will stay for another year, tourists do prefer short distance trips within safety of europe or within the USA.

They don't want risk of getting back to their homes.

The only coming would be expats, pensioners coming for long stays during winter months, digital nomads staying for as long as visa allows them (so not that long).

In the meantime thai tourist infrastructure is disintegrating. 

Hence there won't be mass tourism for many years and will need large investment to revive it.

That perspective TAT should see by now, but try to cling to their useless jobs and keeping their offices throughout the world

Does this mean we will see teams of Thais working along the roadsides cutting down the 3ft long grass growing through the pavements and clearing all the rubbish to reduce the smell and vermin? I doubt it, what it means is bulldozer crews being let loose to level the very businesses that brought millions here for the past 30 years so they can sell the land to Chinese developers to build overpriced condos, hotels and restaurants that will funnel all the money straight back to Beijing.

The sort of people Prayut wants to entice here (idle rich) are used to comfort, luxury and standards. First step for improving the "infrastructure" should be to clear the rubbish. After that a crack at improving the raods and pavements would be of benefit. The first thing that struck me on arrival in China were the teams of people whose sole task was to keep the place clean. Here, well the soi I live on the Wheelie bin (one medium sized bin for 4 houses) has to be moved regularly because the refuse men will only empty the bin, they ignore the stuff people have put around it because there's no room in the bin.

For a long time it has always been a plan to get rid of the “sex tourism” image.

 

Only problem is the this industry is very much driven by the social and financial differences in Thailand. A situation that has become much worse during Covid. Many more poor people now.

 

So when things open up again, I am pretty sure the girls will be back ten-fold and the authorities on the ground, will due to their corrupt nature keep a blind eye towards it.

Thailand will never change until education is drastically improved and the gap between rich and poor is highly reduced. Something that will never happen, as the Elite will never let go of their personal greed and  power.

 

Fine talk is one thing… Reality is another.

 

Thailand has talked about high-end tourism for years. It never happens for a good reason.
