I doubt any of them were expats based on how they were dressed.  They all looked like tourists and most of them looked like sexpats.

It's people from Pattaya that's gone to Bangkok because of the Pattaya alcohol ban.

Not at all sure of your reply as to interpretation.

A chemical mixture can be a random or it can be with a degree of  educated yet assumed expectation of result that does not necessarily achieve such desired expectations.

Nevertheless, things change without interference or drama. Things change when they have to, communism in Russia was defeated without a war, time killed it. Vietnam and Afghanistan showed that interference is futile, counterproductive even, things will change there all in good time and so it will be with Thailand.

The risk of testing positive on arrival and being sent to quarantine will put off most tourists.

Absolutely, but I'm not sure there is a disclaimer/small print/info in the public domain of sorts when applying that this scenario could pan out..................................let alone have to pay for it oneself...............jeez

Full vaccination plus a covid test before departure should be sufficient.

Tests before departure is worthless as there is no accrediting body, anyone can write a certificate.

In Sweden a company got caught in june issuing 100.000 certificates without testing the samples , just pocketing the money (300 Mbaht)

Thanet Supharothatrangsi, chairman of the Chonburi Tourism Business Association is a courageous man who is not scared of telling the truth instead of kissing the boots of the governing generals.  There are no tourists coming to Thailand right now and all with common sense know it.  The Thai people and Thai business community are suffering, they have been deprived of a job and income without any compensation, how can they survive without a salary?  Only by walking anywhere in Bangkok and one will see all business are closed and for rent or worse for sale.

certainly, that's the route many other countries are going down. however, thailand's vaccination programme is still well behind the curve and they, probably with justification, are worried about whether their health care system could cope with a large number of covid cases. so don't expect any change in the near future.

Things change more often when conditions make it necessary IMO. Little changes without  a dramatic imperative. Wars bring change even if instituted  by  foreign interests on a subjected population to political conflict. The USSR was systematically rendered a failure due to a fundemental flaw in ideology accelerated  by interference from a major opposing nation that  currently has exposed equivalent flaws in the imposed dictate of alternative political ideology .

The reality of the current state of global human sustainable existence is in the dubious control of those politically empowered by whatever means to extract where possible continuance of power to enhance said power or financial benefit derived from as  long as can be sustained !

He will be transferred tomorrow.

This may or may not be. He is not in a political position.

Anyway let's hope for the brave Khun Thanet his opinion will do him and his affiliated business members more good than harm.

The guy clearly earns the fullest respect.

Thanet for Prime Minister!

Abolished all those Thai insurances and keep control on those overcharged Thai hospitals bills instead.

The Vax program had an abysmal start but they have done well for the last three months. The will be close to 70% fully vaxed by the end of December.  That's as far as countries in the west have gotten. After that, the public demand for vaccinations will wane.

You didn't mention the billionaires that they are now attracting. They must be pouring in on their private jets, spending $millions in Tescos and Seven11 on crisps and Chang. Stocking up for Xmas to spend on their own.

If not, welcome to the new Myanmar.

Finally somebody of note with cojones to state the obvious loud and clear. More businesses within Thailand should speak up on the absurdity of this whole arrangement and hope it makes a difference

The only arrivals are not true tourists at all. Just business people, property owners or those with families.

So, the average tourist spends as much in 2 weeks as I do in 3 months.

Let's say $3000USD.

But I typically stay 6 months or more.

So, I end up spending more money than a tourist per trip. ????

Covids a gift for Prayut and his puritanical hypocritical mates, it allows them to control the serf's

Ah, the insane Qanon theory that COVID is intentional, allowing governments to "control" people...

By asking them to wear masks and get vaccines for their benefit.

Whaaaaat? Totally absurd.

But lots of ignorant, uneducated people believe that. ????

This guy should seriously think about running for PM!  now that he has spoken truth the squeeze will be on the best of luck down the road?

The guy is a business man not a blood sucker free loader getting rich off the back of their own people!

Well.......that's not how it works here.

No one freely campaigns as an elected PM, almost are deliberately selected or appointed in the usual manipulated manner by club members.
