thailand49
What a dreamer! Why don't he make a bigger ass of himself by going broke! 1 billion will be knocking on its doors, 10 Trillion will be made, they will raise us up and make us all immortal statue of all of us at the airport celebrations yearly of saving the Thai economy! Forza2002
Thailand has had its day, its other Asian neighbors offer better value. The Bell Curve will play out now. Govt were in dreamland if they thought the 39M Tourists from 2019 were exponential. They should cancel the extra terminal/runway at swampy as it wont be needed... Would be great to see tourism go back to ~5M when I came for the first time in the late 80's. Thais were happy, no rip-off taxi drivers, jet ski operators etc..., bring back the good old days...

Popular Post spidermike007
If they muster up the courage to allow antigen testing at the airport, with no overnight quarantine, and if they do not threaten to quarantine incoming tourists who are exposed to Covid positive people sitting within two rows of them on the plane, they might see 1.5 million tourists in 2022. Maybe. Then as many as 2.5 million in 2023. I predict up to 5 million by 2026, and no more than than that annually for decades. 1. None of the issues existing before Covid were ever addressed. Typical Thai style. These goons in charge won't take responsibility for anything. 2. Many economies have been devastated, and Thailand's tourist base of primarily lower income Indians, Chinese and Malaysians were hardest hit. 3. Thailand cannot and will not attract wealthy or even affluent tourists, for a dozen good reasons. No sacrifices are being made, to make Thailand more appealing to them. 4. Thailand is a nation in reverse. It is moving backwards, and represents the polar opposite of progress on countless levels. It is simply NOT becoming a better version of itself. The environment, traffic and public safety, horrific law enforcement, corruption, air quality, etc. Add to that heinous luxury and wine taxes, and you have an environment wealthy tourists avoid like the plague. 5. You cannot shut down the entire tourism industry for nearly 2 years, decimate the nightlife, hotels, restaurants and countless related businesses, engage in a very poorly planned vaccination program, create a climate of fear and panic, and then just expect because you open your doors again, millions will flood in. The world does not work like that. 6. Thailand is NOT the center of the known universe. It is becoming less relevant by the minute. Tourists are forgetting Thailand. Thailand needs foreigners 100x more than they need Thailand. I could go on and on and on. The goons just do not get it. At all. 5

Sydebolle
I predict that this country is run by selfish crooks, completely off reality and heading full steam into an economic desaster - all selfmade by the gifted goons down in the parliament house. My predictions might be even more realistic than those daydreamers whose minds are completely off scale; I sometimes wonder what kind of excellent weed is smoked in some of those officers work places ... It makes no sense! I would call it a desperate attempt to save face after Thanet's comments the day before. It doesn't have to be realistic - it has nothing to do with tourism or revenues. The only aim is to save face and therefore the bigger the numbers, the better the face.

cheapcanuck
TAT's numbers are way off. Based on current restrictions to enter Thailand and the competition from other countries (regionally and globally), TAT numbers are what fairy tails are made of.
