Senior Thai officials are mulling incentives to encourage about 11 million as yet unvaccinated Thais to get inoculated against COVID-19 this month.

The measures, which include a ban on people who have not been vaccinated from entering public places, are to be submitted to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) for approval.

Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said today (Friday) that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed the Ministry of Public Health to speed up the vaccination campaign, to achieve the target of 100 million doses of vaccines being administered by the end of this month, after it was discovered that there are still 11 million of Thailand’s population of 70 million who are yet to receive their first vaccine dose.

My mil won't get jabbed, so I told my mrs to inform her that unfortunately we won't be visiting them or going out for a meal, you know how much they like a freebie feast and a cost free visit to a sup

are they not supposed to start with free donuts

yeh threat of exclusion from society is a great incentive for people to choose to get jabbed
thats clearly not coercion but a choice they will make of their own free will????‍♂️

There will be plenty of "donuts" on here claiming it's not coercion but the best thing for humanity since the invention of sliced bread ! ????

Of course it is coercion. Same way I get my animals to the vet. They think they have the cognitive ability to make their own choices too... ????????

Ahhh, another bite of unexpected consequences of choosing Sinovac as the main vaccine, that so many have refused in the first place.

Enough time has now passed for people to see that it is the least effective  against delta, and learn they can live without it. Unfortunately, they carry that belief forward to not want to get the other vaccines that actually work to stop infections in the first place.

Once their mind is made up, it is tough to change after the fact.  Even once they run out of Sinovac and finally start to offer others as the first jab, it will be hard to bring people forward. This does not bode well for the overall acceptance of getting the boosters we will no doubt require soon.

@johngI know you don't like my replies and I respect that and expected it, but I refuse to put myself or anyone else at risk, the rest of the family have all been jabbed, why should she be the thorn in the side of the population, all family members have been done except for mum, a bit selfish as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, that's quite curious isn't it, why the fear?

Maybe he's scared his mother in law will get ill but I don't think that's it.

I'm not "afraid" of the MIL, but I don't understand her reasoning, she effectively can't go anywhere, we usually go to a nice restaurant, they probably won't let her in, I'll have to get the mrs to check as it's a Thai place in Chantaburi, maybe they'll offer her 1000 Baht, l won't ????????

Probably still a massive stock of the chinese stuff available which nobody ones.

I'll tell you the same as I said to johng, I ain't scared of her, but she knows how the family feel, she's old (well over 70) diabetic, overweight, she's a prime candidate.

So, more for her wellbeing than ours, and if it means her only daughter don't visit sobeit,

Seriously, why not 20,000 baht to every Thai citizen who’s fully vaccinated? Can anyone see any problems with that? The Thai Govt could fund it just by printing money, might drop the value of the baht slightly, which mightn’t be a bad thing.

As an anti-vaxxer, you are aware that the unvaccinated may infect the vaccinated, although such infections are rare. So, it would be reasonable to protect oneself against an unvaccinated family member.

How about making vaccines available for everyone?

It’s available for everyone over 12 currently.

The risk is lower but not rare. If you are vaxxed, the worry is not getting infected because you know that the risk of dying from a breakthrough infection is very low. However, being vaxxed you will be going out more. Doing more normal things. With this comes the risk of getting infected. Do you want to risk infecting your unvaxxed MIL who is over 8x more likely to catch it if you are infected? Can you live with it on your conscience if you caused her death?

Entice ? GF paid 4 months ago but still no jab. When she asks the hospital by phone now the answer is maybe January. LOL !

By the way, today I got my THIRD Pfizer. FREE of charge. This is the difference between a 1st world country and 3rd world country.

Nothing is FREE. You don’t work and pay taxes?

I think incentives can be helpful along with negative consequences for being stubborn. But it's kind of unfair to give a reward to the stragglers and not to those that stepped up to do the right thing because it was the right thing.

A good incentive would be to get good vaccines

No. But the Thai don't pay taxes ? And still have to pay for a jab.

What's the point of your statement. Don't see it adding any value to fellows here. FYI I got my mrna booster last month too but so what? Nobody wins in this covid era.

And make it easy to get the jabs without traveling hundreds of km's to get the jabs at a private hospital when a public hospital is very close by.

We are in Khon Kaen,. We actually have to travel to Bangkok (Dec3 appointment ) to get out booster shots because we got vaccinated outside in the US before we came here, and there us no Moderna or Pfizer to be had in Khon Kaen. .Not a big deal , we wanted to take a trip anyway, But not everyone can.
