Basically, waking up!!!!!!

Hunting out and finding new red wines to try.

Walking round Central shopping mall and browsing, not to mention watching the world go by.

Books. Electricity. Cool mornings and warm afternoons. A walk around the village. Maybe an occasional old movie. Can do that every day--plus some writing for journals. Sure beats the alternative of getting sick every Sunday worrying about everything piled up to do on Mondays when I worked.

The next pension payment and live to i am 110 years old and have the pension fund wanting to put a contract out on me

I'm not there yet, but... it'll be: the next meal, working on music, writing, reading, listening to music, just enjoying the gorgeous scenery of a new place (probably Ao Nang area).

What more can a man ask for ?

New experiences, meeting new people, eating, drinking, spending my pension, my mia noy, laughing, avoiding the paper wasps, my next trip to Bangkok, our first crop of oranges, doing my first 90 report online, my next cup of coffee - - - - - - - - - while I can.

Coffee.  Good coffee.  I think about my morning coffee when I go to bed at night.

I have no family left.  I really really like that.  Each to his own, of course.

Short answer, already stated; waking up & death.

Long answer ... hey, you asked ... Looking forward to the freakin house to be finished, and I thought the last house build took too long.  Then the solar to be installed, though only a day or so.  Then leave it ???? and go out & about, before more of them damn tourist arrive.

68 and lucky enough to have done everything & more than I thought I ever would.  Making it pass 40 amazed me.  Done with thrill seeking thingys & survived, worked for airlines & used them bennys, so traveled out, though do get the itch now & then.  Got thinking about Turkey & eastern bloc area ... thanks for that ????????

Look forward to adding to my bird photo collection, over 160 of Thai birds, probably more, just too lazy to research the slight differences and catalog 'em.  Trying to beat my electric toy addition ... so far so good.  Think I maxxed out with the e-scooter & ebike, though have to stop seeing other e-2wheelers, damn tempting.  Thinking about the stand up scooters now, as can throw those in the trunk, and still have room for all the other c r a p we take with us, when out & about.  Got too many drones, boats & cars to play with now, should give some away to local kids.  Ah screw the little sh!ts, buy your own.

Thankfully the Gulf is c r a p, so thoughts of a watercraft are out, keeping me practical.

So back to ... waking up .... and death. ???? In between, a few more trips around this tiny a$$ country.  Still a couple provinces I haven't been yet, though still can't think a reason to visit, beside, they exist.

Another slice of cheescake / pastry at a coffee shop w/ view.  All comes down to, just another day.

Perfecting my understanding and practice of Epicureanism, not the popular understanding of the term but the real original thing as described by Lucretius and others, not so different from nirvana, getting in the zone and staying there, afloat in sea of awareness, Pater as my guide, finding everything that applies and works for me and eliminating all that gets in the way.

Great food, sexy girls, and golf.

I look forward to one or all everyday.

What else is there for retirement enjoyment.

Kinnel, that Robertson's Mincemeat is expensive on Lazada, Bht  300 -400. That's over a  poorly octopus!

But only one a year I guess.

Currently semi planning to take our 4-6 month RV excursion in the US....It was our normal plan until about 2 years ago (C19)....

This might be the last go at doing it this way as I'm tired of paying to have the vehicles stored.... Storage alone has increased 20% over the past couple of years ....

Might take an outside shot of getting a Canadian visa for my wife & stay out up to a year....

I paid 120bht/jar (Lazada Food Variety).

Still expensive, I usually make my own for a lot less, but was too lazy to go into town to buy the ingredients this year. Probably best not to buy just before Xmas.

Living in everlasting hope that I will, one day, find another bottle of Bushmills Irish whisky, as I did once, long ago here,,, and as a bonus   a  bottle of   decent  wine, without  the "fruit juice added" sign on the label.

If you know red wines pretty well can you recommend some. I have just started trying wine and would appreciate some guidance.

Well, there are many answers to your question, because to a great extent it depends upon what sort of wine you like, and after collecting them for 50 years I have a pretty good idea of what I like, but what I like might not be what others like, so I'm opening myself up a little here.

At the budget end of the range there are some real wines (no fruit juice added) and they are very palatable IMO, basically fruit (from the grapes) driven and with body and fairly low tannins: – "Barwang The Wall" range of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and a mix of the two.

Then there are the "JJ McWilliams" trio as above, and both of these wines are priced at around 399 baht.

It really depends upon how much you want to spend, and I buy the above as my everyday drinking wines and splash out on others from distributors and importers I know, especially when they are having clearance sales, and from which I scored some beautiful wines from Sicily just a short while ago, which were originally priced at just under 1000 b a bottle, but I got them for 590 b a bottle..

I have just found a wonderful Carmenare wine from Chile (Root:1) and it's normally priced around 560 baht plus, but I got it on a discount, and I've always liked that particular grape and up until now have struggled to find another wine which matches, but this one is quite lovely.

As a general guide, the wines in the boxes/plastic bladders are fruit wines (fruit added to the grape mix) and I won't touch them, however there are wines from France, Italy, Spain Australia and Chile which have fruit juice added to them and you have to look very carefully to be able to spot the "fine print" on the back label as a rule.

I don't know where you are, but I could send you the price list of a particular importer and distributor I use, and they have distribution outlets around the country, and you could peruse what they have to offer, then go on to the Internet and search for the wine you like (or think you like) on sites such as Vivino to get a feel for what they have to offer.

Better stop here as we are way off topic.......sorry Mods!!!!!
