Sarangoon Road Oz TV series made in 2013 about an Ozzie private detective working in 1960s Singapore. I'm quite enjoying it. (on HBOGo)

I enjoyed both the documentary and the movie.

Capturing the Killer Nurse (2022)

Documentary

1hr 34min.

Netflix

The Good Nurse (2022)

Movie of the above documentary.

2hrs

Netflix, fmovies

Emancipation

It only warrants 4.9 stars on IMDB and I think that's being generous. I found it tedious.

Not much makes me laugh out loud but some of the scenes in Doc Martin are hilarious. Great viewing.

Watched  "The Wonder" today, sombre and powerful. Not to all tastes but fine for me.

Doc Martin series from 2004 has 10 seasons ( 79 episodes ) , also a French version of the series with the same name.

The movies are “ Doc Martin “ and “ Doc Martin and the legend of the Cloutie “

All episodes of the series can be found on fmovies.

Not seen the movies anywhere for download or stream.

White Lotus season 2 has turned out to be as deliciously entertaining as I expected it to be.

The finale drops today US time.

It has proven so popular that a season 3 is already assured and reportedly it will be set in Asia!

The Watcher (2022)

One Season Only. 7 Episodes.

Netflix, fmovies

"After the Brannock family moves into what was supposed to be their suburban dream home, it quickly becomes a living hell. Ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher” are just the beginning as the neighborhood’s sinister secrets come spilling out. Inspired by the true story of the infamous “Watcher” house in New Jersey."

Just came to say, after the initial disappointment of an absent “Armand” hotel manager character, I really enjoyed the second series of the white lotus, a couple of twists in last episode and yesss! It’s been signed for a third series.

I just started a Belgian series Fils De which came recommended, was quite hard to find due to the naming. Seems to get mixed reviews - but fills the gap for a running gritty Euro gangster series. I think the last good crime series I caught was S02 of Snabba Cash or gangs of London.

On the subject of hotels/hotel managers, I decided to watch The First Exotic Marigold Hotel (again) last night and was so pleased that I did, as I had forgotten the background/buildup to the folks who departed the UK for this exotic location.

More than anything else, the movie seemed to reflect aspects of my sojourn here and also the conflicts that one deals with, as well as what to do as regards future activities, if any are undertaken (or not) and it was thoroughly enjoyable and uplifting IMO. Well worth watching again.

This thread is the best thing about Asean Now.  It has brought me countless hours of pleasure researching then downloading some of the titles  recommended here.  I have worked my way up to P101.  I've just finished watching my nomination for Best Series of the year.  Apologies if it has been mentioned between P101 & here:  Bad Sisters is a tour-de-force.  Not a wasted word; superb character creation and surely the most hateful character EVER created known as JP.

I haven't see Bad Sisters but the show it was based on The Out-laws AKA Clan was a cracking show.

I watched this last night and was expecting great things as it had an IMDb rating of about 8.2........but I was very disappointed, because IMO it was a pointless movie that focused on isolation, smallmindedness and stupidity and all that those things bring. Didn't enjoy it one bit.

Taboo 2017

I'm looking to where I can download the above. Thanks

I thought it was great, superb performance by Colin Farrell.

Don't pick Up the Phone

Thought this was mind boggling.

Summary: The shocking true crime story of a hoax caller who targeted fast food restaurants across America - posing as a police officer investigating a theft, the caller instructed managers to strip-search the young female employees he said were suspects; for many victims, what began as a humiliating strip search escalated into sexual abuse. When the hoax caller hits McDonald's in Mount Washington, Kentucky, a rookie detective makes it his mission to catch him - what he uncovers is extraordinary. With testimonies from investigators, victims and the people who were duped into committing strip-search crimes, this limited series tells the story of the hunt for the strip search hoaxer, and the victims' search for justice.

Actually, I like both Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as actors, and particularly like the movie "In Bruges", but this one was either about Irish stupidity (didn't mean to offend anybody) or something I didn't cotton on to, and IMO was pretty pointless.

Still, it would be a sad world if we all liked the same movies!

THREESOME from 2021 on Channel 4 is quite entertaining and stimulating in parts.

Just released... The Woman King.

A historical epic inspired by true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries.
