BANGKOK, Jan 7 (TNA) – The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration declared 69 provinces orange zones and maintained eight provinces as blue zones where eateries can open for alcohol consumption until 9pm.

CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin said the country entered its fifth wave of COVID-19 and CCSA declared 69 provinces orange (control) zones, up from 39 provinces earlier defined as orange zones.

There will not be a yellow (close-surveillance) zone, compared with 30 yellow-coded provinces previously.

The link is not clear as to what the "parts of 18 other provinces will remain as blue (tourism) zones.!"

Does anyone have a link as to what/where they are?

This from the PR Thai Facebook page:

"69 provinces are categorized as a controlled areas (orange zone) except the 8 pilot tourism/sandbox areas (blue zone) provinces/areas which remain the same. The blue zone includes Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Krabi, Chonburi, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phang Nga, Phuket and some districts in other provinces that considered as the pilot toursim areas."

So utter confusion as to what is happening: what is allowed or not allowed, in which provinces; what does blue, orange or red mean, what do levels 1,2,3 or 4 mean?

No one seems to have a <deleted> clue!

Now I am a ???? bear of very little brain, but is it beyond the bounds of possibility to give a clear simple explanation of what is proposed, or has no one actually thought that far?

The CCSA General Meeting today adjusted the zoning categories for disease control measures, effective from 9 January 2022. With this update, all 69 provinces are categorized as a controlled areas (orange zone) except the 8 pilot tourism/sandbox areas (blue zone) provinces/areas which remain the same. The blue zone includes Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Krabi, Chonburi, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phang Nga, Phuket and some districts in other provinces that considered as the pilot toursim areas.
- The CCSA decided to highly recommend all agencies implementing the Work from Home measure until 31 January 2022.
- The entertainment venues such as pub/bar/karaoke are are allowed to temporarily open as restaurants from 16 January 2022. The venues are required to strictly exercise the COVID-free Setting measure and need to be approved by the provincial authority before 15 January 2022.
- For the provinces/areas in the blue zone, an alcoholic beverage consumption in the restuarants is allowed until 21.00 hrs. under COVID-Free Settings and only in the restaurant that received the SHA plus certificate.
- CCSA General Meeting today discussed that the prior restrictions for travelers from Africa will be lifted. Therefore, international travelers from all countries can enter Thailand while undergoing the same measures. From 11 January 2022 onwards, travelers can register to enter Thailand through Sandbox scheme via Surat Thani Sandbox, Phang Nga Sandbox and Krabi Sandbox which is an extension from the Phuket Sandbox scheme in order to reduce limited capacities for Phuket.
- For the Test and Go scheme, the registration under this scheme is still being suspended until further notice. However, those who have already received QR code can still travel to Thailand as scheduled under test and go measures. The CCSA will constantly adapt the measures as necessary including consider the time limitation for approved travelers under test and go scheme and we will inform you as soon as there are further updates.
- For people who get positive result from the ATK test kit, you should immediately isolate yourself from your family members. Then, please visit hospital to confirm the result with an RT-PCR test.
- Contact Thai health officials via
o National Health Security Office at 1330 by phone or their Line official account.
o Patients under the Social Security System contact a hotline 1506, press 6.
o For urgent or severe cases, contact the hotline 1668 or Line @1668.reg to reserve a hospital bed.
- After confirmed a positive result, patients with severe symptoms will be sent to a hospital while patients with mild symptoms can be sent to either (1) a hospital of their choice at their own expense, or (2) a field or community hospital or hospitel at the expense of the government (covering stay and basic treatment) or (3) a home isolation.

So a) Omicron is a major concern b) enough to impose restrictions c) pubs etc are a major vector of omicron d) most cases are from tourists/arrivees.

And their solution is to impose restrictions everywhere except those areas with the highest chance of it spreading, highest tourist/arrivee stats, highest concentration of pubs etc and allow all closed booze venues to sell food and reopen as a restaurant so they can keep selling booze?

Now I am happy I live in a province which is "open" but these actions show just how <deleted> the administration is.

Your wife or kids probably have Facebook if its the only option.

One day it's numbers, Another day it's colors.

What's next: Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond?

This circus of all circuses manages to take idiotic achievements to new heights. You think that they've reached the limit of stupidity and then these pr1cks come and take it to a new level.

The almost complete absence of "pourboire" from closed houses of ill repute, gambling dens etc. it remains a fact, that the boys in brown acrued a three digits billion Baht amount in debts. Mind you, all those little Mercedes, BMWs gold necklaces with motorbike chain weights, watches and finger jewelry need to be paid and if there is no money coming on the envelope channel ........

So they just instigate fear and terror everywhere and while hundreds of thousands try to make ends meet, these fat highway robbers come along and move the godforsaken ends ........

But, this is Thailand and if the Thais do no react, then nothing will happen. The rest of us are visitors, unwanted guests with more-than-wanted cash! I rest my case - you're welcome!

Or steal for the day , like when I go to Immigration and see my compatriots with a couple in tow. Apparently two kids with you is worth a saving of 4 documents to present.  Just a warning though, I tried it once with my 23 year old 'niece' and still needed all 85 documents and copies. To cap it all  she then found out I had 800k in the bank...big mistake.

It's a cunning plan, Alcohol dependent Farangs will not dare wander far from a bar, so by making Tourist areas Blue, they won't go to the other provinces where they can't drink or carouse in bars, it's containment.

Very good idea by the experts that lead this country, they know the Farang mindset and a Blue Zone is like an open prison, Farangs will not wander far from a bar.

Thailand; the hub of technicolor provinces....

Rest assured, it will all change again in a day or two.

As does covid. Hopefully if Omicron  follows the same pattern  as UK and SA the tide  of Covid-19  will turn followed by the Thaid of civid regulations.

I don't think the authorites  give  much thought to 'farang'. It's an obsession  of this forum that all legislation is aimed at 'farang'...

Its a deluded solipsism...
