Thailand-  The Ministry of Public Health revealed today, February 27th, 2022, that according to a recent “Hygiene Poll”, sixty percent of Thais that participated in the poll are still afraid of Covid-19.

Dr. Suwanchai Wattana Yingcharoenchai Director-General of the Department of Health revealed the results of the poll to the Thai press this morning, however, TPN notes, the exact number of people polled were not revealed.

According to Dr. Suwanchai, the poll was conducted from February 18th-22nd of this month across Thailand and was called “Concerns and Feelings about the COVID-19 Situation”, or the Hygiene Poll for short.

Dr. Suwanchai explained that according to the poll results, 60 percent of people were still worried and afraid of Covid-19. Amongst other results, 21.3 percent were “used to the situation and not concerned.”

An additional piece of the poll also covered Covid-19’s impact on daily lives which, according to Dr. Suwanchai, 34.1% of people were stressed about their lives and their impact still directly due to Covid-19.

Thais are not afraid of catching Covid, but more so of what the implications of having Covid ca do to ones life ie...locking them away for a few weeks and keeping them from working as there is no safety net.

There are  lot of rules associated with a person who gets Covid, being suspended from  their job being one of them. I recall visitors to my place saying they could not post on social media that they were out of province, as that would then require them to isolate and test before returning to work.

I reckon your quite possible correct and it could be more in actuality as far as those that are asymptomatic.  If they would test the majority of folks and see just how wide spread this actually is then they can adequately shut down restrictions and "Learn to live with Covid" as they have been espousing for months.

My GF is afraid of Covid. She is also afraid to visit USA because of all the vampires there. TIT right. At least they don't have to pay a bribe to be afraid.

Maybe the city where I live  is not representative of the rest of the country but, from what I have been observing, I reckon that, in  Bangkok,  that percentage might near 100% among the subjects

It is likely even higher. The goons did a great job of whipping up the public into a frenzy in order to be able to make protests and criticism of their poor performance illegal. Even now, protests are still illegal, as far as we know. It all conveniently falls under the "social distancing guidelines".

What will they think of next, once Covid is gone? Will that mean they will be gone finally? One can only hope.

Wow that's fall-on-their-sword verbiage if I ever heard it. Keep it up. You da man.

How can they not be. The media gives us moment by moment infection and death counts.

If they did the same with traffic accidents instead of infections 60% of Thai's would be afraid to drive on the road.

In bkk, i commonly see thais upon entering an elevator to go directly into the corner with their face pressed up against the wall, or refuse to get into one that has 2-3 people in it already.  wearing multiple masks are commonplace on the street and at my job.

The brainwashing program has been a success

My wife's largish company in Bangkok, which has had its staff working from home for months now, recently advised that its office workers should continue working from home for the time being. No back to the office yet.

That's not hard to understand, considering that Omicron likely is running rampant in the country, COVID patients under care and the portion seriously ill keeps rising every day, and the now-rising BA2 variant of Omicron is said to be even more contagious than the original Omicron variant.

Why tempt fate?

Why bother even calling it a poll.

Sounds like political infighting with "fake" polls.

fear is a great political tool, the administration must be happy with this news

With 70% having received their first two jabs (a figure that doesn't seem to be rising much) and 30% having had a booster, depending on what those first two jabs were, it's not much of a reach to suggest that the total number of people actually protected from Omicron lies somewhere between 30-70%.  Maybe in the middle?  50%?  No wonder they're scared.
