If you look at JUST firearm-death homicides per 100k---not including suicides---we are actually about 15th. 

 

Lastly, if you go back to total firearm deaths per 100k.......... the list where we are tenth (NOT second! ????????????).......... You'll see that the country one positions above us has a rate that is roughly 25% higher than ours. And as you continue up the list, the gap gets wider and wider!

After all, we're talking about deaths. How much, then, may be related to access emergency medical care, rather than a consequence of the gun shot itself?

 

Is it possible there is such a big statistical discrepancy between them and us........... because access to emergency care is so much better in those other countries? Is that possible ........... RATHER THAN......... there being a dramatic difference in how many people get shot?

 

I dunno!

The problem with your callous "after all its only 3.5 people per 100,000" is that it includes the preventable murder of small children

By condoning the status quo and not wanting to take any action on gun control you are saying you are OK with recurring mass school shootings and the murder of children - it is just for you a price worth paying for you to enjoy your :"freedom": to own guns

In 2021 the USA had 693 Mass shootings. 34 of them at educational facilities.

Every single fact, statistic, Infographic regarding gun-ownership vs gun deaths either by nation or by per-capita of population is wholly damning, more so when compared with other nations considered of equal development. 

 

Just like road traffic death stats in Thailand - making any improvement to Gun death stats in the USA requires a cultural shift in a country where many seem ridiculously brainwashed and unable to see reality.

I think it's pretty clear by now that there were major errors in the police response and they're trying to cover their blue asses. 

That said, while it's tempting to blame them for those errors, the real blame goes to ridiculously easy access to weapons of mass slaughter and of course the shooter himself.

Also, it's probable that the shooter did most of the killings in the first few minutes which would make the long long delay mostly  a moot point.

You may well be correct, however, one student had this to say from the linked article:

“When the cops came, the cop said, ‘Yell if you need help!’ And one of the persons in my class said ‘help.’ The guy overheard, and he came in and shot her,” said the boy.

The real blame imo goes to every US citizen who is not willing to change this ridiculous

law.

I don't agree with that.

The 2nd amendment isn't the problem per se.

It's the interpretation of that amendment and specific national and local laws.

The supreme court has already ruled that controls on guns are constitutional. 

So it's not necessary to abolish the 2nd (which will never happen) to legislate effective control laws.

Not saying those laws will happen (NRA, minority rule by republicans), but they could happen 2nd amendment or not.

Ah, Marsha Blackburn, the GOP senator from Tennessee who, during the grilling of SCOTUS candidate KBJ a few weeks ago, boldly declared "I care about children!"  Spoken with such bravado as if she was taking a stand in a contested controversy.  Would have liked to have heard someone ask her to double-down on that statement a few days ago.
