Thai parliament police officers say new uniform is a waste of money

As long as they have the old uniforms sized to fit the ever growing force they’ll be fine. Otherwise we’ll be see a lot more trying to squeeze into their tighty brownies.

They look sorely in need of new uniforms these days.... if they move the buttons any more, they will be on the same side as the holes.

claiming that it is a waste of taxpayers’ money because they received their previous newly-tailored uniforms only six months ago.

I dunno, with a new Mr Doughnut or McD next door those waistlines can dramatically change in 6 months

Instead of buying new clothes give the cash money to the police and tell them don't take now any tea money for a while ????.

'police officers say new uniform is a waste of money' as is paying them a salary.

And there was I thinking they were mostly self-employed !

I would have a guess the real issue here is not mentioned in the article. Its probably about "status" and looking like a police officer rather than an unknown guard.

Hawaii shirt and shorts for this climate. Who thought head to toe polyester was a good idea?

Most police dress like that already. Only "uniform" guys wear brown.

Smart idea.

There very conservative here though.

Shorts and polo shirts might be easier to pass.

Uncomfortable and hot clothes definitely doesn't help the police work ethic.

How about adopting the Fijian Police uniform with comforting "wind in the willows"????

Fiji Police: the best-dressed in the world?

It's not about if new uniforms are needed or not. It's all about keeping the brown envelopes flowing.

When I first started visiting Thailand had my Passport stolen at Chatuchak Weekend Market. When I went to Police to report it  a very pretty  Police Officer asked " do you have Thai wife?"   I said  ,no. She then said with a smile  "do you want one"    555

I know they have a lot of things to sell at that market ... ????
