The Royal Thai Air Force sent two F-16 jet fighters after an aircraft, believed to be a MiG 29 of the Myanmar air force, was found to have intruded into Thai airspace in the western province of Tak, according to RTAF Spokesman Air Vice Marshal Prapas Sornchaidee.

He said that the RTAF also instructed its attaché, based at the Thai embassy in Myanmar, to warn their Myanmar counterpart about the alleged intrusion and not to repeat the incident.

The MiG 29 was sighted about noon today (Thursday), flying above the Ban Valley Tai and Ban Valley Nua in Phop Phra district, as it engaged in an air strike against anti-government rebel positions near the Thai border with Myanmar.

Seriously ? I imagine the potential for Myanmar invading Thailand is pretty remote to say the least.

There’s only one solution, increase the military budget by 1 trillion baht, we must be protected from the heathens over the border!

Seriously, I’m amazed they even noticed, MH370 slipped through south Thailand with no bother at all…

The shooting at the rebels in Myanmar is ok the problem is when you are flying that high international borders get hard to see.  I am surprised that this does not happen more often.

I think the last  thing that the junta wants is to give Thais a reason to start aiding the rebels.

Heaven forbid that they actually hit a Thai with the wild shots.

You missed the twitter video posted above then? The jets were low and local Thai's had to run for cover, damage to trucks and roads etc

Sadly the world didn't care enough about Myanmar's 55 million people to help them after the coup.

The coup leaders are cowards. They were colonels back during SPDC and were waiting their turn to drink at the trough of corruption like Than Shwe and Maung Aye. When democracy came, they realized they were never going to get sinfully rich. The SPDC-written Constitution had a silly clause where it allowed the Tatmadaw to retake power at any time for any reason, so the coup plotters claimed that---which is 'convenient' since the old departing military had written it into their document.

What the world coup have done is supply a few SAM-7s or Stingers and had coup opponents---which is to say 99.99% of the people---shoot down a couple of helicopters carrying generals. The remaining generals would have instantly fled to Singapore and democracy could have been restored.

Instead, thousands have been slaughtered by the military, and 55 million Myanmar people---who had finally been given a chance to prosper and have a shot at a decent and free life, are now subjugated and abused under a self-serving brutal dictatorship (a dictatorship which, of course, is viewed as legitimate by the useless ASEAN)

Like RTP looking for spies, this is Thailand's attempt to justify spending millions on its aircraft (balloons included.)

If the Laos Navy decided to attack, would the Thais scramble the moored Aircraft Carrier from Sattahip to sail up the Mekong and engage them.

no silly .... they would use the submarine if it ever arrives

Subsequent investigations found that the Thai Military radar did see MH370 flying along its border and maybe even in Thai airspace, albeit briefly.  They never reported it or launched any aircraft to investigate.

Outboard motor boats from Nong Khai?

Who gave/sold them Migs?  You'd have to be out of your mind to . . . oh wait, NK?

The submarine is a vintage diesel powered model and the F-35 are delivered with an option for two jet engines.

First, I apologize as the first smart aleck thought coming to my mind was Putin was sending MIGS to protect the Russians here in Thailand. Not really a joking matter with those planes firing on people.
