What the hell is wrong with these folks, if he looses the position as the PM then all of his other positions evaporate as well...........He might as well start taking documents home with him to read up on what he is supposed to do in case it all goes pear shaped, like his #2 resembles.

Fatty you mean?

Perhaps this is your personal opinion/desire.

But reality is that removal of a Cabinet Member is not so easy:

"The House of Representatives and the Senate can forcefully remove a sitting minister by a vote of no confidence. A one-sixth of the chamber vote is needed to call a debate and a simple majority is required for removal. A minister can also be removed by the king on the advice of the prime minister."

ref. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet_of_Thailand

The Senate is firmly in Prayut's "camp."

Conversely, wouldn't his self-appointment to Defense Minister have been approved "on advice" aside from himself as then PM?

Indeed it shows the power of the military in this so called democracy. As a lot of people wantbtha PM get out, he will stay in power in one or another way backed up by his friends. If the people will demonstrate and start fighting it is a reason to do another coup so that the army can stay in power. Why is Thailand called a democracy???

"Why is Thailand called a democracy???"

I was under the impression it was a constitutional monarchy.

The challenge is that with the way it is worded he could resign today and start a new 8 years tomorrow.

Again it comes down to the same thing as every country is learning.  ELECTION have consequences.

Instead of people crying and whining they need to get off their assets and vote.

Everyone talks about removing Prayuth. But has anyone thought about the next character that will replace Prayuth?

To be honest- there is no one or we foreigners know of nobody.

At least Prayuth still maintain. Semblance of law n order without which none of us will be in Thailand. ????????

Let’s get things into perspective Thailand is ruled by the military the only difference is they wear normal civilian clothes and occasionally will dress in their military attire . The current PM is the guy who orchestrated the last coup if he is kicked out of office he will organise the next one to ensure he retains the power he cherishes more than anything else

Being allowed a free vote, where the result stands regardless of those "in influence", and the various agencies which they control would be a start.

another military coup again in 2023? 55555

Well it’s been a while, all of 8 years and the last still isn’t over.

Nothing like a military coup over a military government.

just a different buffalo in control!!
