"But as I've said before, the gravest threats to our civilization are not from abroad but from within," Trump argued. "None is greater than the weaponization from the justice system, the FBI, and the DOJ. We must conduct a top-to-bottom overhaul to clean out the festering rot and corruption of Washington, D.C."

Possibly Trump is self-projecting here.

The US electorate tried to clean out "the festering rot and corruption of Washington, D.C" in 2020 but the smell from the burgers seems to still linger on.

  • Yet the trump dead dog failed to do so...and the trump dead dogs fared badly in the mid terms.

  • Regurgitating the same old boring hits of yesterday. Low energy announcement. I think he running to avoid indictment. He is not running for the love of the country. That's the nature of this narcissis

The blockage from his torn-up incriminating presidential records may still be a problem!

Win/win

He will bring up lots of dirt about anybody who will dare to run against him in the primaries. The DEMs will be happy that Trump brings up the dirt and they don't have to do that.

And if Donald runs for president, he won't have enough support from within the GOP and he won't win.

And if he loses in the primaries, I am sure lots of his supporters will hate the then GOP candidate.

Whatever happens is a win for the DEMs.

And whatever happens is lose for the GOP.

Summary Win/win for the rest of the world.

We'll learn just how much of a problem very soon I hope.

Time to face reality but he keeps kicking the can ahead of him.

bye bye Trump.

His daughter gets it.

"This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating," Trump's older daughter said.

"I do not plan to be involved in politics," she continued. "While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside of the political arena.

The biggest loser is running for president again again.

But actually his odds of winning the nomination are very high if he has multiple opponents.

I am wondering when Merrick Garland will drop the other shoe.

I suppose leading America from a jail cell is preferable to him doing it from a golf course, less expensive for US taxpayers.

Poor Melania.

I reckon she's contractually obligated to occasionally stand by his side onstage. Cringe city.

Running doesn't shield trump at all.

If the comments in this thread are any indication, trump doesn't stand a chance.

Previously, any trump threads had 3-4 die hard fanboys defending trump, nowadays it appears its a unanimous NO

The thing is, Trump never had any real loyalty to the GOP. He was a Democratic supporter for years- essential if you do business in New York.  So he doesn't care if he causes the party damage. He cares about his personal brand most of all.

As I said before, he was a good president but is a terrible former president.

Unbelievable misinformation from the orange man. It was only a few days ago his own lawyers were sanctioned for this.

A federal judge on Thursday excoriated and sanctioned several members of Donald Trump’s legal team, saying the former president’s massive lawsuit against his former rival, Hillary Clinton, and dozens of other adversaries amounted to an intentional abuse of the legal system.

“These were political grievances masquerading as legal claims,” said U.S. District Court Judge Donald Middlebrooks, a Florida-based jurist who dismissed Trump’s lawsuit in September. “This cannot be attributed to incompetent lawyering. It was a deliberate use of the judicial system to pursue a political agenda.”

I'm not voting for anyone over 55 years old in the next presidential elections.
I want to see a new generation take the helm regardless if they are Democrats, Republicans, or Independents.

I think the international events of the past year have demonstrated precisely why it’s important to have an experienced President in the WH.

He still has his base 25 to 30 percent which will give him the primary win if there are multiple opponents like last time. One on one vs. DeSantis would be a real contest.

By running, he is declaring war with his own party. He is likely to win the primary but will be the worst possible candidate to win a national election. The Republican Party is being held hostage by Trump and his base. DeSantis doesn't stand a chance against Trump in the primary. I am sure you know it. The party leaders and their donors can only watch with trepidation that it will be another lost 2024 election. What a curse Trump has brought to the party.

If you are claiming that a world teetering on the precipice of nuclear armaggeddon is preferable to an unprecedented 4 years of world peace, well we are in disagreement. Remember when the left said a Trump presidency could cause a nuclear war(1), and here we are!! Other noteworthy international events under Biden would include the Afghan disaster when poor people were clinging to planes as they were taking off. Great stuff! More experienced Presidents, more chaos please!!

It is clear the left will not allow a Trump presidency, I'm also not sure they will allow a DeSantis presidency. In my mind this attitude is dangerous to democracy, as normally elections are used to determine who governs.

You don't think he did it to himself?

If it was not for media good or bad, he wouldn't have won in the first place. How much free marketing haven't he got from media? Obviously his fans love his narcissistic egocentric behavior and love his outrageous speaches.

You missed the bit about Trump backing Putin and giving him the green light to do as he pleases.

You forget, the electorate already rejected Trump in a fair democratic election.
