Came here on an ex-pat posting, stayed for the people.

 

Despite significant hardship, the vast majority of people here are happy, kind and remarkably honest.

 

Just think what UK, US or Western Europe would be like if there was a totally ineffective police force?

 

And image if in any of those countries, you protected the stock in your little fashion store during your lunch break - by hanging a string across the entrance.

Anywhere in this world healthcare is cheaper than in the USA.

This is why international insurances have policies which exclude the USA or are a lot more expensive if the USA is included.

Many in the UK have now started bracketing Thailand in with the USA as top tier e.g. one of the biggest insurers Staysure:

I lived near 20 years in a farming village - I love it more and more each year, especially in comparison to what my friends are enduring in the West. It's not perfect but my wife has a very large and wonderful family. And I am more impressed as I learn more or at least witness more each year.... 

 

I think some of it is a matter of assimilation, some things that might bother others here don't faze me a wit...

I would say mostly we talk about our lives and more so, our families. It can get a little philosophical at times and I find Thai people open up more quickly as they don't feel threatened and maybe enjoy talking w/a farang... but, all in all pretty much the same as I talk about w/my farang friends...

True, but my fav age 35 +- have never been a problem when I was younger and now mid 50'ies. 

 

Thailand is the best budget country where you get a little bit of everything from dirt cheap to cheap 5 star experiences that really is only 4 star ????. 

 

Clima used to be a huge factor, but it is hot wet and cold as any other countries, but still better. 

 

Nothing beats the big bike adventure riding in Thailand when it comes to roads, other Infrastructure and possibilities. You can keep on going for a few 100ks and never gets boring, and you are never afraid to loose your license, but in change for your health and life. Makes it more interesting ????

 

Used to love the beaches and the beach life, now it is ok with a few weeks a year, or a few long weekends at our favorite Island. 

 

Life is less complicated in Thailand if you manage to stop be irritated by minor idiotic things, that can be big issues if you let them become big issues, as we read in the later tread where a wife run over the neighbors dog! 

 

Never let yourself become stuck anyplace, meaning be ready to leave what you built or paid for in change for something better.

I live in Thailand for cheap sex all around and can also work online. No I don't like Thai foods (except steamed lemon fish and Tom Yum Kung). At least once a week I eat these two.
