Traffic is horrendous .... but the ladies are beginning to complain about a lack of customers.

 

Hotels are still pretty full, and Bolt taxis are Scarce.

 

I suspect that Pattaya is going the way of Phuket, most men come with their Farang girlfriends. So the ladies have fewer customers so they raise prices.

 

Even if more single men decide to retire in Pattaya, they get caught by a Thai lady pretty quickly, which takes them out of play for a few months, until the Thai lady announces she is too old for boom-boom. And then the Farang can only go to bars discreetly.

 

It's getting to the point that Pattaya is so busy that nobody goes there.

You title the topic as a question and then go on the state your beliefs and experiences. You already know the answers in your mind.

 

The traffic certainly seems worse than previously. I dread driving into Central Pattaya/Soi Buakhao, even on a motorbike.

How long since we've read about an Indian missing a gold chain on Beach Road?

Pattaya is more than bars and girls which it seems like you have based your statement upon.

Try not to generalise.

Remember....Pattaya City Central (bars/malls), East Pattaya, Jomtien, Naklua etc.

I'm sure others could add other areas.????????

 

Far too crowded.... as stated traffic is bad. I usually only pop into town at weekends, when it is to be expected.

Don't know about farang men bringing their girlfriends.... what I see are snowbirds. Farang men bringing their wives for a holiday, getting away from those miserable post Christmas winter months of mid January to February. Wish they wouldn't bring their heavy unattractive wives here, brings down the tone of the place!

Oh, give over. You're flogging a dead horse.

After being gone for four months, I went there Wed between noon and two in the afternoon, went back and forth a few times from Jomtien to Fascino's and Tukcom. It seemed the same as before. In fact, Tukcom was nearly deserted compared to my past visits.

I have to drive there nearly every saturday so the daughter can meet her mates at Central. This past weekend the traffic was horrendous, seemingly all for a kite festival!!

It's just the common problem of over breeding.  Bangkok believe it or not was liveable 40 years ago.  Same with Chang Mai.  Pattaya ruined, Koh Samui, Phuket, the list goes on.  Sad

Traffic is not a consequence of crowds/holiday influx …traffic is caused by lack of surface streets (poor urban management) given the # of vehicles for that area…

Semi busy. A massage lady off of Buakhao yesterday was complaining of no customers. I guess many falang have gone home already

Or she's happy to get him out of the way. Thai wife of a friend of mine discreetly helped pay a bar girl (she charged extra) to spend time w/ her intolerable old man so she wouldn't have to.

Massage parlor with no customers.... too many massage parlors, too many bars, too many shopping malls, too many markets, too many 7-11's..............

Pattaya has at least 3 major Shopping Malls on Beach Road,I think that’s where the majority of the traffic is heading.

Quite, its a mystery why they do bring their "heavy unattractive wives here", maybe their wives won't let them go alone?

Correct many of the stores inside have closed already? The only busy stores seem to be the ones selling phones, on the 1st floor?

Maybe the wives enjoy a holiday in Thailand as well and Pattaya is a relatively nearby popular (with families, as well) beach resort w/ a large variety of attractions, restos, and malls? Maybe they love their wives and feel some obligation, which I suppose could a mystery for you.

 

However, I've seen farang couples in bars choosing a lady to take back to their hotels.

 

Better broaden your outlook, I guess. No real mystery here at all.

A month or so ago, the 1st floor and the phones floor were busy. The old computer shop area, not so much. All the malls have JIB and Banana now. The pirated software and movie DVDs are no longer needed. Specialty shops, like security cameras, repair shops, still have some business. Quite change from the heyday. It was really welcome when it started up--no more need to make the journey to Panthip.

My point is to explain how there can be more tourists in Pattaya, but the bars are not so crowded:

 

More wives are coming.

 

There are more ex-pats, but they get quickly snatched by Thai ladies.
