Did you miss the bit about getting the school name embroidered on the uniforms , that bit is illegal , wearing a school uniform to a school that you don't attend

If a school name is so sanctimonious, why are the clothes with school names being sold in open market places specifically targeting tourists? RTP should sweep in and remove these potential sources for crime from vendors. In reality RTP is likely aware of these sales.

Typical overkill knee jerk reaction from Tha authorities in a xenophobic rant targeting tourists. Instead of actually seeking to minimise the problem by targeting the shops re-selling old uniforms.

19th century laws dealing with 21st century actions again.

This was a big story in Chiang Mai several years ago; Chiang Mai University had been the setting for a popular movie in China, so Chinese tourists not only (illegally) purchased and wore CMU uniforms but also swamped the campus, unintentionally disrupting the activities of actual students.

What! Didn't see this one coming at all.

I can understand, four out of over a Billion is easy to overlook. What is the penalty for wearing a school uniform anyway?  Now if they was vaping I'd have an idea how much.

Doesn't Thailand celebrate a holiday each year called "Democracy Day"?

What was that all about exactly and why is this country back in the Stone Age?

Nothing to see here, move along.

PLEASE, talk about the strawberries, elephants, nature, noodle soup, temples, and no more commenting on anything that we would be ashamed of.   We have lived here for a long time, and we obviously indirectly support all this repression, so let's just act like it's not there!!!!

Hey, look, a pretty temple!!!  wow!!!

They are not putting school names on the shirts, merely their own names and Thai sayings.

The lawyer is probably just trying to garner attention as he contradicts himself in typical flip flop style.

Infiltration - titter ye not - that's what it is!

Next coup - come on! you don't think that we've seen the last of them, do you? - will be led by the Chinese masquerading as Thai schoolgirls.

a lawyer, said on his Facebook page today

Only a lawyer …. Not a Thai police or Govt statement …. Thai government would do nothing to upset the Chinese Tourist golden egg cart. Could TAT sue this lawyer for defaming Chinese tourists by his scaremongering?

It will just be another Chinese scam, so many people believe china is a great country but I have to ask myself why do so many Chinese not live in china and how many foreigners actually live in china ??? Why do so many Chinese immigrate to other countries?

Thailand has such a lot of petty, petty laws. Doesn't it make the lawmakers seem rather stupid enacting these laws? I'm sure tourists don't think 'oh how sensible of them to have a law against this'. Rather they will think 'what idiots put this law on the statute books'.

When I think of really crass and stupid laws I always come up with the law against vaping. It has no apparent purpose other than to assist the corrupt police in collecting bribes.

We do not need thousands of new laws each year. I think legislation sessions are way too long. Maybe they should cut such sessions down to one week each month.

Why are Chinese tourists wearing school uniforms?

Umm, that's explained in some detail in the actual article...

It's all about the intention.

"If an individual, who is not a student, wears a student uniform to mislead other people into believing that he or she is a student may violate the law and may face a fine of up to 1,000 baht on conviction."

Exactly. In his quest for 15 minutes of fame, the eminent attorney seems to have completely overlooked the fact that none of these people are actually attempting to impersonate students - it's like the difference between putting on a pilot's uniform for a Halloween party and putting one on to try to access the secure area of an airport.

I quite like this trend, though if those in the photo are chinese they seem to have learned the finger motion for 'yes, but it will cost you' from their fellow Thai school uniform dressed bar girls !

In the interests of research - if the chinese want to be specific - it is all about the belt buckle, not the embroidery, apparently.

Doesn't seem to have stopped the legions of over age 18 Thai pretties and quasi-bar girls who like to periodically play school girl dress up for events at their places of employment...

Get the part of school names etc on uniforms , but really who cares !! As far comments of bar girls in Thailand wearing school uniforms more like they copying Japanese style  , plenty of so called Gentlemen clubs in Aussie have theme dress up nights or brothels + strip clubs & do advertising football team themes nights this or that no big deal who really cares at least spending money into Thai economy instead of CCP ???????? owned Chinese buffets tour companies they all flock too paid back in China prior to travelling in groups Thailand or other countries !

All the worry about the possibility of tarnishing a schools image by wearing a school uniform with a name on it but no worries about school staff tarnishing the school image by physically and sexually abusing school students.  We are truly living in an upside down universe in Thailand.

Arrest both the teachers and the Chinese.

So long as the group being targeted is these Chinese who live in a Peter Pan world of fashion, I am happy.
