Popular Post XGM Posted May 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 31, 2023 Went to Jomtien immigration today for the yearly extension of my marriage based Non-O. All our documents were in order, I paid the 1,900 baht, got a receipt and I saw the official stamping the "under consideration" in the passport. When we thought we are done, she said we need to return tomorrow morning to pick up the passport, with some documents they will prepare and sign, and to take those to the "Police Forensic Science Center 2" in Chonburi city (an hour's drive), to take fingerprints. She said it's a new thing. Indeed I have never heard of this procedure. Can anyone can shed some light on that? Another novelty: now they have a Line account where, apparently, it's possible to check if something (the extension?) arrived according to a code they write next to the "under consideration" stamp. Didn't quite understand what exactly is the relevance of that. In any case there is a fixed date we need to go with the passport and get the actual extension. All in all, a very confusing day in immigration, after 8 years of marriage extensions in 3 different provinces I was under the impression I got the process under control. 1 3 3 1 3
Popular Post hughrection Posted May 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 31, 2023 Wait until they want a stool, urine and sperm sample! I would suggest just dropping off a pair of used underpants for that particular request. ???? As they say ........ 'new rule, new rule.' 1 12

Whatever they want... they'll get... but making us go to another city to take the fingerprints is rather strange. What's the point of handling extensions in Jomtien if they make you go to Chonburi city the following day. 3 2

Tony M Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 I went to Jomtien immigration office 5 days ago, also for a marriage extension, and I was not asked/told to go for fingerprints anywhere. Did you, by any chance, get the URL for the Line account ? 1 1

KhunBENQ Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Fingerprints? I remember they had fingerprint scanners at Khon Kaen immigration in the past. Had to put fingers on that thing. But if I think about it, I can't remember from last visit in October. Both Khon Kaen and Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) have LINE accounts. KK is quite useless. Once asked about an oncoming office closure. No response. Korat sometimes brings some useful info. 1 1
Popular Post KhunBENQ Posted May 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 31, 2023 With a bit of patience the QR code works. I have a new friend "Check Visa's Result" sounds promising (if it works). 2 3 1
Caldera Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 That kind of fingerprinting for a marriage extension isn't unheard of, but in the past it seemed to be only done for certain nationalities that had a high number of sham marriages as a means to stay in Thailand. If they now do that for all marriage-based extensions, that would be news. I guess we'll see. 1

1happykamper Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Driving one hour is very unreasonable. It's like all those guys do is look for reasons NOT to let you in or stay. Meanwhile the real bad guys are laughing 1 1
AAArdvark Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 They will add a ฿300 on all arrivals to buy fingerprint scanners. Half of that will be siphoned off for submarine accident insurance. 1 1

Those with criminal background won't even bother doing visa extensions, they'd just overstay forever and if / when they are caught they'll find a way to crawl back in. 1 1
