I went to Jomtien immigration office 5 days ago, also for a marriage extension, and I was not asked/told to go for fingerprints anywhere.

Did you, by any chance, get the URL for the Line account ?

I don't, she had my wife scan the QR code on the sign. Did she not make you do that? I wonder if all that is a brand new procedure or just in my case.

maybe his are not due to being on extensions for 8 years

Last time I entered the country it was on a Re-entry permit, via Phuket, 2 years ago.

Fingerprints? I remember they had fingerprint scanners at Khon Kaen immigration in the past. Had to put fingers on that thing.

But if I think about it, I can't remember from last visit in October.

Both Khon Kaen and Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) have LINE accounts.
KK is quite useless. Once asked about an oncoming office closure. No response.

Korat sometimes brings some useful info.

That kind of fingerprinting for a marriage extension isn't unheard of, but in the past it seemed to be only done for certain nationalities that had a high number of sham marriages as a means to stay in Thailand.

If they now do that for all marriage-based extensions, that would be news. I guess we'll see.

"Check Visa's Result" sounds promising (if it works).

"The results should be announced on the due date or after the due date"...

Whatever they want... they'll get... but making us go to another city to take the fingerprints is rather strange. What's the point of handling extensions in Jomtien if they make you go to Chonburi city the following day.

Might be they have only there the fingerprint scanner to check.....

Another hurdle erected.

They really must be wanting us to use agents mustn't they?

Can't imagine why ( ????????????)!

Or like mostly they like switching all to the 800K on bank ret extension ,as it is th easyest way for them to make the extension , (and even for us.... if possible , did it aprox 8 years whiteout any hassle at desk 8 Jomtien , no agent used )

You may be correct, but as the scanners only cost a couple of hundred dollars each, every Immigration office should have them?

They have our fingerprints on file from immigration at airport.

If they're sending him to the "Police Forensic Science Center" it's for a police records check not just getting fingerprints on file.

Driving one hour is very unreasonable.

It's like all those guys do is look for reasons NOT to let you in or stay.

Meanwhile the real bad guys are laughing

They will add a ฿300 on all arrivals to buy fingerprint scanners. Half of that will be siphoned off for submarine accident insurance.

As I wrote I am quite sure they had fingerprint scanners at immigration offices in the past.

It's not million Dollar investment.

Sending to police forensic office?

Sound like a hidden criminal background check?

Do you see it when you click on "chat"? Otherwise, in the chat window, click on "Menu" at the bottom.

My guess? makes it easier to provide more work to the agents when it's further away.

Exactly. Those with criminal background won't even bother doing visa extensions, they'd just overstay forever and if / when they are caught they'll find a way to crawl back in.
