Funny how Interpol has no problem enforcing Red Notices for Euro citizens but can't seem to figure out how to enforce ones for Thais.

And remember, Asean Now is headquartered in the mecca of press and individual freedoms known as Hong Kong. Where they closed the last "free press" newspaper years ago and passed laws that allow them to monitor and censor all media outlets operating in Hong Kong.

Maybe why they didn't mention groups 3, 4 and 5 as they were South Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese ?

Immigration Bureau officers yesterday announced a number of successful operations against foreign criminals in Thailand. The Immigration Bureau managed to arrest 25 foreign suspects in five major cases.

 

The first case was the arrest of a 31 year old Swiss man named Jonathan who managed to evade a drug charge in Switzerland and sought refuge in Thailand. The authorities apprehended him at a Bangkok airport, believed to be Suvarnabhumi, when he was attempting to flee to Vietnam.

 

The Embassy of Switzerland in Thailand revealed that Jonathan had bought 2,000 methamphetamine tablets from an African supplier in Thailand. He then proceeded to sell the illicit substances to customers residing in Zurich.

The second suspect is a 45 year old Swedish man named Stephan, who was on arrest warrants issued by Swedish Court, European Union, and Interpol. Stephan and his accomplices had reportedly committed copyright infringement by recording and distributing television programs on an online platform without permission.

The immigration police checked Stephan’s documents and discovered that he was staying in Thailand legally under a valid visa. Officers then revoked his visa and successfully apprehended him at a residence in Chon Buri province.

 

The third case involved the arrest of five South Korean men in Pattaya, following a complaint filed by residents regarding the operation of a travel agency in Thailand. They rented a pool villa accommodation in the province and offered tour packages to South Korean tourists.

So, this one is confusing:

 

"In the fourth case, officers from the Chonburi Immigration Office, in collaboration with the Tourist Police and Interpol, apprehended Mr. Zhang, a 41-year-old Chinese national, in Soi 18 Naklua in Pattaya on overstaying charges.

It was discovered that Mr. Zhang had been residing in Thailand for over 5 years without a proper visa. A police questioning revealed that he had entered Thailand on May 26th, 2015, and had been granted permission to stay until July 29, 2018.

However, when Mr. Zhang’s permission to stay had expired, he refused to notify the authority and had remained in the country illegally for a total of 2,160 days. Mr. Zhang explained that his prolonged stay was due to a pending asset-related case in China, and he feared facing legal consequences if he returned. As a result, he had been taking refuge in Thailand. He was undergoing legal processes."

First, if he was granted "permission to stay until July 29, 2018.", he has not, "been residing in Thailand for over 5 years without a proper visa"., as it is only 7 July in Pattaya.

Second, July 29 2018 to July 7 2023 is only 1,803 days, so how was he, "...residing in Thailand for over 5 years without a proper visa"? Must be Thai math, where 4.93 years rounds up to "over 5 years".

Third, what the heck does, "...undergoing legal processes." mean?

 

The promise I read was "Good guys in, bad guys out" Someone read that back-to-front.

Do you think they just started doing this? They have been removing criminals and overstayers forever. They just decided they need to remind us that they are doing their job and they can justify their salaries.

But they did seem to put their boots on to round up the other well established crime gangs.

There might be an exodus of criminals from Pattaya to Chiang Mai for a two weeks holiday 

till it blows over and things go back to normal .don't go to Phuket as I think having  crack down

there too.

Ever learned to read in your youth? I see all 5 cases explained in the article, but then again, I wasn't that eager to work on my likes count, and could be bothered to read the article
